I have been wearing a full set of dentures for over ten years, since the age of 33. At that time, I had been told that I needed $9,000 worth of bridgework. My dental insurance would pay only 50 percent of that, but they would pay 100 percent of the cost of pulling all of my teeth and the set of dentures. That was a no-brainer! I had impressions taken over the course of that week. The next week I had all of my teeth pulled.

Unfortunately, I am not the only denture wearing in my family. My oldest daughter, the 21 year old, has worn a full set of dentures since age 18 after losing her teeth in an auto accident. She had been driving my husband's old pick-up truck (and not wearing a seatbelt) when a car pulled out in front of her. The impact caused her to hit the metal steering wheel. This knocked out several of her teeth. Her remaining teeth were either broken or badly loosened. The hospital staff called in a dentist, who went ahead and extracted all of her remaining teeth. (This was rather traumatic for my daughter, as she awoke in a hospital bed having no memory of the accident and realizing that all of her teeth were gone). Since she had so few teeth left before the remaining teeth were extracted, impressions were problematic at best. This has made it difficult for her to have a well-fitting set of dentures made, and she often experiences pain associated with loose fitting dentures.
I have had better luck with my dentures. I rarely have problems with my uppers. They fit well and rarely cause me any discomfort. My lowers are another matter. They stay secure the first couple of hours after I put them in in the morning, but then begin to loosen and cause irritation. Both my daughter and I have been looking for a good product for pain relief. I was thrilled to see this product on the website--along with such a great review from another reviewer!
We are both new to this product, but we are both enthusiastic about it! It works best to dry your gums before applying the Orajel as this is the best way to ensure that it covers well. Yes, it does sting for a bit, but the pain goes away quickly. You can eat food without the Orajel interfering with the taste of the food. Pain relief lasts up to four hours.
Overall, this is an excellent product for denture wearers who experience pain associated with their dentures.
