| rittdogg's Full Review: Orajel Mouth-Aid |
Recently, the Rittdogg was the victim of not one, but two severe burns while eating extremely hot food (rumor has it that I refuse to let my food cool to reasonable temperature before consuming). A dreaded Hot Pocket of Doom torched the upper side of my mouth one day. A Stouffer's French Bread Pizza scorched the top of my mouth the next. What I was left with (after a good chunk of skin melting off each time) was extreme unbearable mouth pains in the roof of my mouth. I needed a something to ease the pain... would Orajel Mouth-Aid be my savior?
Orajel Mouth-Aid- It's a Numby Treat
The gel has the flavor of cool mint. Oh boy, do I mean cool mint! The gel almost immediately numbs the gums, leaving the applied area in a Novocain-state. However, the chilled effect (which did camouflage the pain) does not last long. By not long, I mean about ten minutes. I got into the habit of putting the gel on before I ate. There is nothing better than painless eating with a side taste of mint!
According to the directions on the package, an adult should not use Orajel Mouth-Aid more than 4 times per day. 24 hours minus 40 minutes minus 8 hours of sleep leave you with 15 hours and 20 minutes of non-pain relief in a day. This does my mouth no good. I needed permanent pain relief.
I got in the habit of putting some Orajel Mouth-Aid on before applying Zilactin-B. Zilactin-B hurts like Hades when putting it on alone (70% alcohol, that's 140 proof!). So, I would use Orajel Mouth-Aid as a pre-treater. I'd slap on some Orajel Mouth-Aid, let my mouth numb, and then put a coat of Zilactin-B on. Doing this, my mouth has healed fairly well.
Overall
Orajel Mouth-Aid is good for (ultra-supreme) temporary relief. It will help you to eat if you can't due to mouth pain. It also works to numb the mouth before putting on other medication. I probably will try another product next time I burn my flippin' mouth.
Thank you - Eat carefully; good things (non-burnt mouths) come to those who wait.
