| Susie-34668's Full Review: Orajel Toothache Maximum Strength |
I have had false teeth for 30+ years now. I get problems with them rubbing against the gums. Also I sometimes bite the inside of my mouth and that pain is something else.
Back in England I would use Bongela. It worked really good in numbing the pain for fairly long periods.
So off I go to the Pharmacy and ask for relief for the pain in my mouth. The lady behind the counter hands me the Maximum strength Orajel. I say "Thanks", paid for it and out of the shop, and into my car. I take it out of the package, cut the top of the nozzle off, and apply a small amount to the painful area in my mouth.
What happened.
Within seconds the inside of my mouth, the side of my tongue, and half of my bottom lip went numb. Stupidly I said out loud. "Wow, this works quick". Only it came out, Wow thif workth thick. I burst out laughing, looking around to see if anyone had heard me.
I drove home about a 10 minute drive, and went inside. I started to feel pain again. Okay, so I sat down and read the tube.
First of all it says for "Toothache". Well I haven't any teeth. Perhaps the lady sold me the wrong product.
It states:
Provides immediate, long lasting toothache pain relief.
Long lasting. Maximum Strength Oragel is formulated to provide fast relief from toothache pain.
Yes, the relief was immediate, but certainly wasn't long lasting. Actually I was thankful because I could talk properly.
It gives directions on how to use. Cautions too. This is only a temporary product helping until a dentist visit can be arranged.
Then a warning. The ususal for keeping out of the reach of children. Also if you are pregnant or have a reaction to certain anesthetics.
Active Ingredient.
Benzocaine 20%.
Right at the bottom the sentence I should have read first.
For mouth & Lip sores, use Orajel Mouth-Aid. For Denture pain, use Orajel Denture.
Now I don't know if I didn't explain it well enough to the shop assistant or she just picked up any Oragel product. I now know I have to go out and purchase both of these products, because I do get both of these problems, from time to time.
It is certainly a handy size. A small tube about 3 inches long. Net wt. .42 oz. (11.9 grams).
Final thoughts.
So if it is toothache you have and want immediate relief, why not try it. It does not say on the tube how often it can be used. To get constant relief I personally would be applying it every 15 minutes. In an emergency this product does work.
Thank you for reading.
