I have had trouble with tooth pain on more than one occaision and more than one tooth. I found that it was a good idea to keep a tube of this medical miracle in my purse. I would apply this gel at the first sign of aching and usually stop the real pain before it began. Sometime a real bad pain would start all of a sudden due to eating candy or some other stupidity. I would run for the Oragel and soon I was not in pain anymore. I don't know how I would have survived a few times without this medication.
This is a local anesthetic, benzocaine, and must be treated with a certain amount of respect. Too much can cause numbness of the throat and possible choking. Always follow the directions to avoid this problem.
Another thing to be aware of is that this is for short term use. Don't put off a visit to the dentist by using this product. It could mean a worsening of the condition. I am totally dental phobic. I know how much I would like to avoid the dentist for ever. The longer you put the dentist visit off, the worse the tooth will get, and the more complicated it will be to get treatment. Don't use this gel in such a way as to put yourself into this position.
