I have naturally curly hair that requires a lot of care. Because of this I am constantly trying out new products (well that and my love of beauty products!) I recently came across the Organix hair are line and I was really intrigued. There are a lot of natural, organic beauty products on the market today and I love trying them. I picked up a few different Organix items, one of them being a bottle of Organix Soft & Silky Silk Vanilla Conditioner.
Cost & Location
I purchased my bottle of Organix Soft & Silky Silk Vanilla Conditioner at my local Kroger. Pretty much every Organix product on the shelf cost $6.99, including this one. I lucked up and found the bottles with a rebate for the full purchase price! This product is available in plenty of locations - drugstores, grocery stores and even online drugstores.
The Basics
Organix Soft & Silky Silk Vanilla Conditioner comes in a rather squat little bottle and contains 13 FL OZ. The bottle has a flip top cap for easy dispensing. The conditioner itself is off white in color and rather thick.
Organix Soft & Silky Silk Vanilla Conditioner contains organic vanilla bean oils that Organix claims will nourish and moisturize hair. It also contains amino proteins to strengthen hair. Organix claims that their product is "smoothing, silky, luxurious, and totally addictive. It is utterly, completely and totally tempting." Organix really plays up the use of the Tahitian vanilla bean oils - but I'm not so sure they are any better than the average vanilla bean oil (more on that in a bit).
The one thing I love about this product is the scent. I love, love, love vanilla scented products. This one doesn't disappoint. The scent is warm and comforting without being overly sweet and cloying. It's a truly lovely vanilla scent.
This product is Sulfate free and never tested on animals.
My Experience
Conditioning my thick curls is a must and I need a heavy duty conditioner to do the job. Unfortunately Organix Soft & Silky Silk Conditioner just didn't do the job.
The first thing I notice was that it takes a lot, and I mean a lot of this product to coat and condition my hair. Seeing as how the bottle itself is rather small, that's a lot of money down the drain, literally. It takes four good palm sized amounts of this conditioner to coat my hair and make it easy for me to finger comb the tangles out. I went through my bottle in a matter of days. Not good! It just didn't seem to sink into my hair good enough, no matter how much I slathered on.
As far as the conditioning aspects of this product, they were just okay. Like I said earlier, I need a heavy duty conditioner to moisturize my hair. This one just wasn't strong enough, it left my hair fairly soft in some areas but it certainly didn't coat my hair and leave it feeling nourished. In fact, I had a few pretty dry areas that this conditioner did nothing for.
The one positive thing is that the wonderful vanilla scent really lingered on my hair. I could smell it all day, even over my other styling products! I was pretty impressed by the staying power. Too bad it didn't condition as promised, it would have been a winner!
Overall
Unfortunately I just can't recommend Organix Soft & Silky Silk Vanilla Conditioner. It failed to do a good job conditioning my hair and it took a lot to coat my hair. While the scent is amazing and has great staying power, it's just not enough to warrant a second purchase!
