Javelina's Full Review: Organix Shampoo Cocunut Milk 13oz Nourishing
I generally only buy natural body products, but recently Organix had a promotion where you got their product for free with rebate (up to $6.99 - and I did get my rebate!). The products did look appealing and I needed some shampoo. I figured the coconut shampoo was something both me and my husband could use.
"Coconut Milk Shampoo and Conditioner is an exclusive blend of organic coconut milk to nourish your hair, while ultra whipped egg white proteins add strength and elasticity, along with weightless coconut oils to add hydration and balance. The luxuriously creamy, foaming, hydrating formula leaves your hair feeling clean, glowing, softly scented and super soft." (Organix.com)
Organix Coconut Milk Nourishing Shampoo
I bought this shampoo at CVS for $6.99, and you get a 13oz container. This product is available in a variety of scents, all of which I thought sounded really great! For example, 'pomegranate green tea' or 'passionfruit guava'! This shampoo comes in an opaque white bottle with lettering on it (no pictures or designs). It has a flip-top cap and is rounded on the top.
The big thing I have with this brand is the brand name! I don't understand how the name is "organix" when it has no organic ingredients and there is no attempt towards using natural ingredients! There are only a few ingredients in there that aren't chemicals, plus there is fragrance instead of relying on a true coconut scent. It is really disappointing. I do have to say these products are sulfate and paraben-free, but that is sort of a bare minimum for me if I compare this product to something like Burt's Bees.
Anyway... on to to the product.
The shampoo is a pearly, translucent color, and is nice and thick. It really lathers up, and it doesn't take much to lather up all of my hair with a squeeze of shampoo, from the front of my hair all down to my neck.
The scent is very nice, and it s gentle, not overwhelming. It doesn't seem to be too much of a perfumed scent, and it actually does smell more on the natural side. The name of the shampoo is coconut milk and basically this is what I would expect it to smell like. The scent doesn't linger long and it doesn't linger much. I have short hair and I don't notice the scent on my hair.
This shampoo washes out easily, and it washes clean without leaving a residue. Sometimes I deal with product buildup from either styling products after I get out of the shower, as well as buildup from various shampoos. This shampoo feels like it cleans my hair and rinses out clean.
Although the container is attractive, it would be nice if the cap were flat so that when you get to the end of the bottle, it is easy to balance on the cap to get the last of the shampoo out easily.
Overall
This is a nice shampoo but perhaps not as "healthy" as you would expect from the brand name. It does a good job but is nothing spectacular. It washes my hair nicely without drying it out, and it doesn't leave behind any residue/buildup.
