~~ORIGINS CONSTANT COMFORTER~~CALMING MOISTURE FOR SENSITIVE SKIN TYPES

Written: Feb 18 '03
Pros:Gently moisturizes sensitive skin.
Cons:Expensive in price.
The Bottom Line: Those suffering from red, irritated, or otherwise sensitive skin should give this Origins Constant Comforter a try today!

Late last year when I purchased one of the Origins skin care starter sets in the sensitive option even though I normally have oily skin, I found that it included a surprisingly great calming moisture cream called Origins Constant Comforter. Along with the smaller sizes of the Origins Liquid Crystal as well as the Origins A Perfect World White Tea Skin Guardian that were included in this money saving skin care kit which sold for a modest $20, I received some of this moisturizer in a green tinted 1 ounce (30ml) jar containing a white screw-on lid. And over the winter months when my skin tends to be more sensitive than usual, I've had the chance to give this freshly scented moisture cream a try. Read on to find out just what I think about this highly recommended Origins skin care product.

~~~The Product~~~
Specifically designed for those with sensitive skin types, this Origins Constant Comforter is a great moisturizing choice if your skin acts sensitive. According to advertising found at the Origins website: Nature's comforters and protectors, including Chamomile, Oak Root and Lavender, quickly calm, smooth and defend skin. Softens fine lines, firms and comforts skin. Fights free radicals too. Never feels tacky or smothering. Thick and creamy in consistency and pleasantly scented much like the Origins Oil Manager I've used in the past, this moisturizer soothes upon contact with reddened and/or irritated skin. It glides on easily and soaks into moisture craving skin almost instantly with no greasy residue left behind. While this pale yellow colored facial cream can easily be used on both the face and neck as needed, I mainly use mine around the eye area most of the time as this is where my skin is usually the driest. And after using this Origins Constant Comforter for several weeks now, I've experienced no irritation or excess facial breakouts as a result.
~~~Packaging & Price~~~

Each full sized 1.7 ounce (50ml) recyclable jar of this Origins Constant Comforter may be purchased at the Origins counter of your favorite fine department store, or online at www.origins.com for $22.50. Packaged in a clear white jar with a rounded white lid, this generous size would no doubt last a very long time as this creamy skin care product is very concentrated and a little bit goes a long way. Used as an eye cream primarily as I wear it, this moisturizer contains almost twice as much product as another favorite Origins Eye Doctor at a less expensive price. I still have most of my original smaller sized jar left and estimate that I have at least 6 to 9 months of twice daily applications remaining. So while the price is initially expensive, the higher cost evens out over time. Origins Constant Comforter is definitely an effective moisturizer I'll be purchasing again in the future.

~~~Directions for Use~~~
According to the packaging directions describing HOW TO USE this Origins Constant Comforter: Apply to clean skin twice daily after Comforting Solution (a toner like product used to help defend sensitive skin against irritants). Our winter this year has been quite cold at times with more snow fall than usual, and my skin has paid the price! So when my cheeks have been chapped from being out in the cool wind, all it took was a thin layer of this moisture cream to soothe the irritation away. But since I normally have oily skin, I'm truly hesitant to use this product more often on areas of my face containing large pores as I'm afraid the extra oil will clog them right up! For now though, I'm finding that this Origins Constant Comforter designed for sensitive skin types works even better as an effective eye cream instead. And being a contact lens wearer, I've noticed no burning or irritation when using this cream around the delicate areas of my face.
~~~Ingredients~~~

Aqueous (Water, Aqua Purificata, Purified) Infusions, Matricaria Chamomilla (Chamomile), Arctium Majus (Burdock), Myrtus Communis (Myrtle), Rosmarinus Officinalis (Rosemary), Butylene Glycol, Prunus Amygdalus (Sweet Almond) Oil, Octyl Hydroxystearate, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Squalene, Phenyl Trimethiscone, Hydrogenated Palm Glyceride, Lauryl Lactatebifida Ferment Lysate, Glycerin, Cetyl Octanoate, Myristyl Myristate, Tea-Carbomer, Poria Cocos (Hoelen Mushroom) Extract, Lavandula Augustifolia (Lavender Barreme), Rosa Damascena (Rose), Citrus Limon (Lemon California), Citrus Aurantifolia (Lime) Peel and Jasminum Grandiflorum (Indian Jasmine) Essential Oils (Olea), Quercus (Oak) Root Extract, Calendula Officinalis (Calendula) Oil, Retinyl (Vitamin A) Palmitate, Cholesterol, Pyridoxine (Vitamin B6) Dipalmitate, Tocopheryl (Vitamin E) Linoleate, Tocopheryl (Vitamin E) Oleate, Sodium Hualuronate, Caffeine, Pantethine, Lecithin, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea Butter), Tea-Stearate, Sodium Palyacrylate, Peg-100 Stearate, Caprylic/Capric/Stearic Triglyceride, Cetyl Alcohol, Sorbitol, Dimethicone, Polyacrylic Acid, Stearic Acid, Disodium EDTA, Sodium Dehydroacetate, Benzyl Alcohol, Potassium Sorbate, Phenoxyethanol, Methylparaben, Propylparaben, Butylparaben.

~~~Overall Recommendation~~~
Those with sensitive skin types should be very happy to see that this Origins Constant Comforter contains no minty ingredients after scanning the above (lengthy!) list. I know that mint can be an irritating additive for some, so keep this in mind. Since the delicate thin skin around my eyes is beginning to show it's true age, I'm always ready to try new moisturizers to keep this area looking softer, smoother, and most of all, younger. And when used over Origins A Perfect World for Eyes, this creamy skin care product works even better to produce the anti-aging results I am looking for. So even though you'll pay a bit more for this Origins Constant Comforter than what you'll pay for similar drugstore choices, this extra expense is definitely worth it. Pamper yourself today! Good luck and stay beautiful :-)
