Yes, I will finally admit it!! I'm a hair care product addict and I'm not afraid to let the whole world know it. Just last week, my husband asked me just WHAT all those bottles were for that crowd the inside of our shower. Men have no clue about such important things! For a long while now, I've used many of the Origins skin care products with great results, so it seemed only natural that I would eventually cross over into their hair care stuff as well. At first, I tried the Origins Rich Rewards Intensive Moisture Treatment, which still remains my favorite hair care product from this brand, and then I moved on the Origins The Last Straw Conditioning Shampoo. Finally, I decided to give this Origins Happy Endings Conditioner a try since I color treat my long hair and the ends are prone to damage not only from heat styling (blow drying and curling irons) and the growing out process in general. Read on to find out about this effective yet somewhat overpriced choice.
~~~The Conditioner~~~
This Origins Happy Endings Conditioner is a high quality hair care product designed for those with hair that acts damaged or abused. According to product advertising found at the Origins website: Nature's shining "knights," including Grapefruit, Orange and Vanilla, plus special hair smoothers, act like a magic pair of scissors to mend ends and give hair "just cut" body, shine and swing. The conditioner itself is pearly white in color and contains a very faint citrus-like fragrance that is neither addictively pleasant nor overpowering either. Highly concentrated so that a little bit goes a long way, this hair care product is safe for color treated hair as I've noticed no stripping of my current shade when using this conditioner. While I rarely have problems with split ends (a plus with my baby fine hair), this Origins Happy Endings Conditioner does make my ends look more controlled and less flyaway between trims.
~~~Packaging, Price, & Availability~~~
Each small 5 ounce (150 ml) recyclable plastic tube of this Origins Happy Endings Conditioner may be purchased at the Origins counter of your favorite fine department store, or online at origins.com or gloss.com for $12.50. Considering the small amount you get for the price, this is definitely not something you'd want to purchase for every day use as it would be gone in no time at all, especially for those with long hair like mine. The container itself is actually a large plastic tube, much like those many facial washes are packaged in these days. The flip-top lid is round and located at the bottom, so the tube rests upright on it's opening. On the front you'll find the simple ORIGINS logo in dark green along with an orange slice pictured there. The directions for use are located on the back of each tube of this Origins Happy Endings Conditioner and can be found in both English and French print.
~~~My Experience~~~
According to the directions found on each tube of this Origins Happy Endings Conditioner: After shampooing, apply to hair, making sure ends of hair are covered. Leave on 1-3 minutes and rinse thoroughly. For deeper treatment, cover with plastic cap and leave on for 15 minutes, then rinse thoroughly. To make my tube of this conditioner last longer, I apply it only on the bottom six inches or so of my hair while using one of my other hair care staples on the newer growth at the top. So I only need about a quarter-sized dollop to cover the ends of my hair once most of the water is wrung out after shampooing. After 3 to 5 minutes, it's time to rinse, and this conditioner washes out easily with no dulling residue left behind. The look of "just cut" ends seem to hang around longer when using this conditioner, and my hair looks healthier and definitely feels more manageable when I use this treatment once a week or so. I've not tried the "deeper treatment" method as instructed above, however, as the shorter time frame works just fine in my experience. So to help damaged ends look and feel better between trims, this Origins Happy Endings Conditioner easily produces noticeable results. If only the fragrance were a bit more prominent though!
~~~Overall Recommendation~~~
When you are in the mood to pamper your hair and treat those damage prone ends those of growing out our tresses eventually have to deal with, then consider giving this luxurious Origins Happy Endings Conditioner a try. This gentle formula won't strip color treated hair and it deep conditions those dry ends to help keep them looking healthier in between trims. I often abuse my hair with curling irons and blow dryers, so this is just one way I pamper my hair to keep it looking beautiful, shiny, and full of body. So while this deep conditioning treatment certainly isn't cheap, I don't mind paying for a hair care product that really works and does what it says it will. And since I just apply it to the ends of my hair anyway, my tube has lasted much longer than I thought it would. If only this Origins Happy Endings Conditioner had an addictive fragrance, I'd really be in trouble! Good luck and happy beauty shopping :-)
