| melissasrn's Full Review: Origins Mint Wash |
Over the past several months, I've had lots of fun experimenting with many new high quality facial cleansers, masks, and other skin care treatments produced by Origins. My skin has never looked better, although I must admit that my pocketbook is quite a bit lighter as a result! So when Origins began offering "starter sets" of their skin care products designed for different needs (oily, dry, combination, and sensitive) at a special low price of $20 (the .5 ounce container of A Perfect World is worth $15 alone!), I could not resist picking up an oily kit containing two of my favorites: Origins A Perfect World White Tea Skin Guardian and Origins Matte Scientist. Only along with these two "tried and true" items was a small 1.7 ounce (50 ml) bottle of Origins Mint Wash that I had never tried before. Once my order from www.origins.com arrived at my door, I eagerly inspected my new goodies and was certainly ready to give my new cleanser designed for oily skin a try.
~~~The Cleanser~~~
Origins Mint Wash is a cooling gel that lathers clean designed for those with oily skin types. According to the website: Enjoy a tingly sensation clear through to your pores as cooling Spearmint wakes up your skin and senses, while cleansing experts unearth pore-clogging debris, pollutants and make-up remnants to get skin breathing freely. Clear green in color and consisting of a thick shiny gel that lathers easily, this cleanser has a unique yet pleasantly fresh fragrance that surprisingly doesn't smell minty at all considering two ingredients are peppermint and spearmint. For me, this is actually a good thing as I usually don't care much for products containing a mint-like scent. The cooling effect can be felt instantly, and while a deep down pore cleansing product should also be used a few times a week, this Origins Mint Wash effectively removes surface oils, dirt, and make-up with ease.
~~~Packaging & Price~~~
Each large 6.7 ounce (200 ml) clear plastic bottle of Origins Mint Wash may be purchased at the Origins counter of your favorite fine department store or online at www.origins.com for $16.50. Or for a trial sized smaller 1.7 ounce bottle like mine, go for the $20 oily starter kit, especially if you'd like to try Origins A Perfect World and Origins Matte Scientist while you are at it. Just like most other Origins skin care products, this cleansing gel is very concentrated, so a little bit goes a long way. I've been using mine almost daily well over a month and have barely even used 1/4 of my trial sized version. The recyclable plastic bottle is attractive yet durable in appearance and contains a white "twist-off" cap. I sometimes worry about waste as this "pour from the bottle" design makes spillage likely if you aren't careful or are used to a pump style cleanser. Considering the higher price that comes along with purchasing a full sized bottle of Origins Mint Wash, accidental waste due to the packaging design would not be a good thing, so please be careful!
~~~Directions For Use~~~
To use Origins Mint Wash according to the short yet sweet directions found at the Origins website: Work up lather on wet skin. Apply to face in circular motion. Rinse with cool water. Pat dry. I primarily use mine in the evening to remove excess oil and make-up from my face before retiring to bed. Just place a small dime-sized amount of the freshly fragranced gel onto your fingertips and add water to produce an adequate (although not rich and frothy) lather. Then rinse oil and other debris clean away with a few splashes of water. The cleansing produced is gentle and nonirritating yet potentially drying for those with mild oil problems, so keep this in mind. I personally have had no troubles with dryness myself since my oil glands constantly produce a constant layer of grease 24/7, but your results may vary. Use a deep down pore cleanser in addition to this choice a few times a week if you have issues with clogged pores in addition to excess oil production. Skin is left super clean, cool and refreshed every time Origins Mint Wash is used. A clearer more beautiful face containing less breakouts will most likely soon be enjoyed.
~~~Overall Recommendation~~~
Oily skin types looking for an effective yet gentle cleanser to remove excess oil, dirt, and make-up should look no further than Origins Mint Wash. Pleasantly fragranced and easy to use in it's thick gel form, this cooling formula will leave your skin super clean and refreshed as the lather rinses away without leaving any pore clogging debris behind. Ask your favorite Origins skin care consultant for a sample if you still aren't sure and are worried about any potential drying effects. Or pick up the $20 "starter set" designed for oily skin initially before investing in a full sized bottle of this Origins Mint Wash to see if this choice works well for you. Cleaner and clearer skin is just a few washes away. Good luck and stay beautiful :-)
