Pros: Helps to control oil and produces a smooth matte finish.
Cons: Expensive in price; adds a time consuming step to your skin care regime.
The Bottom Line: While I would recommend Origins Matte Scientist first as an effective oil-control lotion for oily skin types, this Origins Oil Manager is a good second choice.

| melissasrn's Full Review: Origins Oil Manager |
As stated in my previous review about Origins Managing Solution, I have been experimenting with many different Origins skin care products designed for oily skin types for a few months now. Since the nearest department store featuring an Origins counter is about 40 miles away, I prefer to do most of my shopping for Beauty products online at www.origins.com, especially during "free shipping" offers. When I found the above mentioned item in the oily section of the website while browsing one day, it caught my eye immediately because of its advertising oil control properties in its slogan: If your skin acts oily. But to get the full effects of this Managing Solution, I actually needed to purchase two products as they are created to work together. The other one purchased that same day is an oil refining lotion called Origins Oil Manager. To be used twice a day after Origins Managing Solution, this added yet one more step to my already complicated skin care regime.
~~~The Product~~~
Origins Oil Manager is designed to be used along with Origins Managing Solution to produce a smooth matte finish while controlling excess oil production and reducing the appearance of facial pores. According to the website: this skin care product works on the surface to reinforce the action of Managing Solution. Nature's oil controllers, including Sage, Calendula, Winterbloom and Yarrow, immediately subtract shine, reduce flare-ups and help skin retain a smooth, matte finish. Skin instantly looks clearer with fewer visible pores. Firms, comforts, softens fine lines, and fights free radicals. And this light-textured lotion never feels greasy or smothering. Creamy white in color and moderately thick in consistency, this odd yet not unpleasantly fragranced "milky" lotion is easy to apply and absorbs instantly into the skin. Since this oil refiner does not add needed hydration that even those with oily skin types require, however, yet one more product, a light oil-free moisturizer such as Origins Matte Scientist, also should be used. I have noticed that using Origins Oil Manager does help to control excess oil production when used along with Origins Managing Solution and even by itself on occasion. And less oil means less breakouts.
~~~Packaging & Price~~~
Each 1.7 ounce (50 ml) clear glass bottle of Origins Oil Manager may be purchased at the Origins counter of your favorite fine department store or online at www.origins.com for $22.50. This creamy white lotion is much more expensive than many of their cleansers and other skin care products, so I'd certainly recommend trying a sample first instead of blindly purchasing a full sized bottle just as I did to make sure you are pleased with its oil controlling results. The recyclable glass bottle is rather small in size and looks very similar to a bottle of Origins Matte Scientist, only this bottle is not green tinted. The white "twist off" cap comes off easily and the product must be poured from the opening onto the fingertips before it is applied. Featuring the Origins logo in plain green lettering across the front, this Origins Oil Manager is certainly an expensive choice, but it does create a lightweight, matte finish to decrease shine where needed for those that have issues with excess oil production just as I do.
~~~Directions for Use~~~
According to the short yet sweet directions found at the Origins website: apply Origins Oil Manager twice daily after Managing Solution. To compliment other oil controlling products and to create a matte finish while decreasing shine, layer a thin layer of this creamy white lotion onto your face after first cleansing with something like Origins Mint Wash and then applying some Origins Managing Solution as directed first. I allow each coating to dry before putting the next one on, which makes the whole process very time consuming at times. For those times when you need a moisturizer as well, this final step must be done as well afterwards. Only then can you finally begin applying foundation. Since there are many days when I just don't have time to follow all of these steps as suggested, I sometimes use Origins Oil Manager alone to help control shine, especially on "no-makeup" days spent at home.
~~~Ingredients~~~

~~~Overall Recommendation~~~
Even though I do not particularly care for this Beauty product's twin, Origins Oil Manager can easily be worn alone to help control excess oil production and manage shine if you don't mind the extra time consuming step and have plenty of money to spare. The freshly clean "barely there" fragrance this creamy white lotion makes it pleasant to use when a matte finish and smaller looking pores are desired. Used alone or under make-up, this oil refiner gives adequate results without feeling heavy or greasy on the skin. Since I have really large pores, I've not really noticed a significant decrease in their size when I use this Origins Oil Manager, however, as claimed. The final verdict here on this one is definitely mixed, and I doubt I'll be purchasing another bottle any time soon, but I would still recommend this oil control lotion for those that are concerned with excess shine. So ask for a sample the next time you go shopping and decide for yourself. As always, good luck and stay beautiful :-)
