Pros: Product meets advertised claims. Easy to use - even for quick touch ups.
Cons: Pricey: $22.50. Might break the bank for some users.
The Bottom Line: Great Origins product! Easy application and a nice range of shades offered. Look past the price (as much as silk!) and find it is a good make-up staple.

| LauraSunflower's Full Review: Origins Silk Screen Refining Face Powder |
I can't stay away from the Origins counter. I was seduced into visiting thinking I'd only get one thing. That old ploy never works!
My skin has a consistently oily t-zone that only got worse early in my current pregnancy. I guess that's what they call "glowing"...not exactly the take on it I was going for, but oh well. Luckily I had Origins Silk Screen, it helped at my oiliest worst moments!
I usually find myself using a pressed powder at least once during the day for a quick touch up. I really prefer a matte look. I've experimented with quite a few pressed powders over the years. I think Origins Silk Screen refining face powder is one of my favorites now.
Silk Screen is $22.50 for a compact of .38 oz - Ouch, right?! Yep, it's a bit on the pricey side. This may be a big turn-off factor for some interested buyers. Don't fret. It's worth it in my book. I found myself not throwing money away on other pressed powders while I had Silk Screen handy.
Silk Screen is described as: "Nature's sheer-as-silk skin-smoothers and state-of-the-art perfectors, including shine-subduing Mica and mattifying Corn Starch, float over skin and gently cling like a fine mesh screen filtering out flaws and refining faces. And the fine, soft-focus finish masters the art of illusion to give skin a poreless, polished, pretty-as-a picture appearance that lasts and lasts. Won't cake, clog or sit on skin's surface." (from outer package container and Origins.com.
The ingredients may be a show-stopper for some potential buyers. The first ingredient is talc, some find this is an irritant. Other ingredients include Corn starch, Mica, polymethyl methcrylate, octyldodecyl lactate, isononyl osnonanoate, dimenthicone, zeolite, zinc stearate, bht, tetrasodium edta, sorbic acid, dehydroacetic, methyl-paraben, propylparaben, butylparaben, and may contain bismuth oxychloride, titanium dioxide, iron oxides, ferric ferrocyanide, ultramarines, chromium hydroxide green, and additional colors added.
I experienced no problems or complications as a result of the ingredients of this product.
I purchased the shade that best matched my skintone: 01 Porcelain. There are twelve shades in all to choose from. I found the color selection to be very comprehensive.
The seafoam green circular compact is sturdy with a good latch on it and an ample mirror for application. A foam round make-up applicator is included. During the course of one compact I replaced it twice with new applicators from the drugstore. This is no fault of the product, I am germ/bacteria phobic when it comes to makeup applicators. I like to keep it all clean. The product wasn't compromised by using a different applicator at all.
Application instructions: Wear alone for lightweight perfection, or over foundation to perfect, set and finish your makeup.
This is a great overall make-up staple. It promises to do what it says. I found it didn't rock my make-up world, but it did keep my shine subdued and didn't cake or sit on my skin obviously. It's a very light and fine textured pressed powder. It gave my skin a very polished overall look even when I just used it quickly during the day to keep my skin shine free. I do not normally use pressed powder to set my morning make-up but cannot see why this light formula cannot be swept on using a large brush and gentle hand.
I liked that it didn't turn orangey or react in a streaky mess with other products worn on my face that aren't necessarily Origins. There is no scent to this compact make-up. I have also liked that the color has stayed true over the course of my use of this product. Coverage is good too. I've used it on bare and foundation covered skin and found it provides good coverage that isn't too thick or heavy.
My only complaint as I finish up this product is that the remaining product left (in that tell-tale circular product pattern that remains) is that it has gotten a little crumbly. I've experienced this with other products of the same nature. It's not a big deal until one of the larger remaining chunks of product does not break down easily enough for easy application. I'd also caution to be careful opening a compact that's well-worn, little pieces of the formula tend to fall out and wear themselves on your clothes and bathroom counters. This is minor and can be easily worked with by using the remaining powder carefully during application.
As my oily skin has calmed down I still find Silk Screen offers great wear on my face that isn't too heavy or obvious. I'll definitely splurge on another purchase of this pressed powder in the future.
I'm very happy that it does exactly what it claims to do - make my skin look smooth, shine-free and evens out my skin - even if it costs as much as silk!
