Even though it's been a long while since I've written about an Origins skin care product, I still use many of their products to this day after discovering this high quality line of department store Beauty items and cosmetics way back in 2001. One such product I keep in my shower always is none other than this Origins Swept Away, which happens to be a gentle slougher for all skins. In other words, it's an effective facial scrub that is designed to exfoliate dead surface cells away to reveal newer, smoother, and more radiant skin. And one of the best kept secrets to looking younger these days definitely includes regular exfoliation of the face. Read on to find out more about this special skin care product that I use more than weekly as recommended as part of my Beauty regime.
~~~The Facial Scrub~~~
Ideal for all skin types, this Origins Swept Away is certainly one of the most gentle facial scrubs I've ever used. Many of the cheaper drugstore choices are scratchy and leave my face looking red and feeling raw, but this does not happen with this high quality department store brand alternative. According to product details: When dead, dry cells hang our on skin’s surface, they create ‘breathing” problems for skin. It looks dull, muddy. Feels “blah”. Nature’s clarifiers give cast-away cells the nudge they need to get going and lift the shroud off skin. Included: Tiny Jojoba Beads cushioned in Oats to slough flakes away, Nettle to clear pores, Aloe to soothe and Panthenol to protect. Won’t rub even the most fragile skin the wrong way. The scrub itself is light green in color and consists of tiny micro-beads that exfoliate the skin without being rough or scratchy. It has a very fresh minty type fragrance that refreshes the senses at the same time the facial scrub smoothes away dirt and debris as well as dead cells from the top layer of skin. All it take is a nickel sized amount of this concentrated scrub to adequately cover my face, so a little bit goes a long way. So without a doubt, this Origins Swept Away is a basic skin care staple I'd rather not do without if I don't have to.

Over the years just like almost everything else, this Origins Swept Away has went up in price. Currently, shoppers can purchase a 3.4 fl. oz./100 ml clear squeeze type tube of this facial scrub at a favorite Origins counter or online at places like gloss.com or origins.com for $18.50 each. The packaging has changed over the years as well, so instead of the white plastic tube like pictured above, you can now see through the newer clear tube to view just how much of this lightly green colored product that is left in the container. Like many similar products these days, the recyclable tube rests upright on the larger white flip top lid, which makes it both convenient to store and keeps the product ready to be dispensed more easily. On the front is the rather plain ORIGINS logo as well as the product name. On the back is product details found in both English and French. The directions for use found on each bottle of this Origins Swept Away is self explanatory: Use at least once weekly or more often if you’d like. Swirl over moist skin. Notice how the grains roll along without feeling scratchy. Rinse with tepid water. Watch skin become fresher, smoother, more translucent. Warning: Keep out of eyes. Daily exfoliation is usually not recommended as there's always the notion of doing too much of a good thing. Too frequent scrubbing will sometimes leave the skin feeling and looking raw, reddened and irritated, so use this facial scrub every other day at the most. I keep my tube in the shower, and two or three days a week I'll use that nickel sized amount I mentioned earlier and swirl it all around my face for 10 to 15 seconds. The process is very gentle and is far from painful as I've experiences cheaper scrubs that actually DO hurt when applied. The scrub doesn't lather at all, but then again most scrubs don't. I use it after washing my face with a different facial cleanser first and then the water from my shower rinses it clean away in just a few seconds. There's no gritty residue left behind either and what is revealed is the newest smooth layer of skin as the dead dull looking cells that were there previously are now scrubbed far away. Applied two or three times a week, each tube of this Origins Swept Away will easily last for several months, so I certainly feel like I get my money's worth even though it's a bit pricey initially to purchase.

If you are looking for a good yet gentle facial scrub that is recommended for all skin types, then this Origins Swept Away is a highly recommended choice. It's one I've used over the years and continue to repurchase time and time again as needed. I'm always on the lookout for new and improved skin care products, but I always seem to come back to this particular facial scrub because I love the way it feels during the swirling process as well as the smooth, younger looking skin it reveals every time I use it. My face never feels raw and irritated nor is it left reddened and all dried out after exfoliating with this product. Instead, my skin feels soft, refreshed, energized, and ready to face the world with that dead layer smoothed away and the newest layer revealed. Yes, facial scrubbing can easily become an addiction, but use this Origins Swept Away in moderation a few times a week and you'll discover the joys of frequent scrubbing just as I have :-) Good luck and happy exfoliating!!
