A few months ago now, I was introduced to the positive benefits of using exfoliating facial scrubs to give my pores that deep down clean they are in high need of. One of the first ones I tried was the St. Ives Apricot Medicated Scrub, and while it basically did a great job, I found it to be scratchy and a bit difficult to rinse off after use. So with a little more research and a few recommendations from some of my Epinions beauty friends, I ordered a small tube of Origins Swept Clean from their website (during a "free shipping" promotion, of course!) and gave it a try. Not only did I receive excellent results as expected, but I now actually enjoy using this facial scrub periodically to keep my skin as clean and free of pore clogging debris as possible.
~~~The Product~~~
Origins Swept Clean is a special sloughing scrub designed for oily-acting skin types. According to the packaging advertising: When environmental toxins and other surface impurities gather forces with excess surface oil, they create the perfect medium for clogged pores, breakouts, and blackheads. Nature's purifiers immediately purge pores and sweep skin of trouble-breeders. Included: Activated Charcoal to draw out breakout-causing debris, Jojoba Beads to slough away impurities, Vitamin E to neutralize environmental toxins, Panthenol to protect, and Peppermint to refresh. Pleasantly fragranced with no offensive odor at all, this specially formulated facial scrub is gel-like in consistency and gray in color while it visibly contains tiny sloughing agents that gently yet effectively remove deep down dirt and grime. Pores are left visibly smaller and the skin is left refreshingly clean, never dull or tight feeling. While many exfoliating scrubs are too irritating to use more than once or twice a week, Origins Swept Clean could easily be used more than that when excess oil production is at its peak, especially in the summer months that are now upon us.
~~~Packaging & Price~~~
Each 3.4 ounce (100ml) medium sized recyclable white tube of Origins Swept Clean may be purchased at the Origins counter of your favorite fine department store or at www.origins.com for an admittedly expensive $17.50 plus shipping and/or tax. But just like most other Origins products, a little goes a long way, so it is sure to last more than just a few months if used twice weekly as directed. With its rather plain looking white shiny packaging with dark green print, each tube stands upright while it rests on the inverted flip-top opening. All it takes is a small squeeze of the tubing and the product is easily dispersed onto your fingertips for use. Origins Swept Clean has now made a permanent home for itself located on my bathroom shelf along with my rapidly growing collection of other high quality Origins skin care products.
~~~Directions for Use~~~
According to the package directions found on each tube of Origins Swept Clean: Use twice weekly or more often if you'd like. Swirl over moist skin. Notice how the grains roll along without feeling scratchy. Rinse with tepid water. Watch skin glow without shine or clogging debris. After removing my make-up in the evening, I apply this fresh smelling scrub as directed and swirl it across my face in a circular motion. Ah! I feel no scratching at all as promised during the exfoliating process. There is no lather produced and there is very little residue left behind after rinsing. Since a few of the tiny beads do remain sometimes, I use this scrub first and then follow with one of my favorite Origins facial cleansers to remove any remaining product from my skin. Origins Swept Clean is the perfect choice for those seeking cleaner pores without the scratching irritation that some other less expensive drug store brands sometimes produce.
~~~Overall Recommendation~~~
If you have oily skin and are looking for a gentle yet effective facial scrub to deep cleanse those pores without painful scratching, then consider giving Origins Swept Clean a try just as I did. You may be pleasantly surprised at its luxurious feeling and fresh, clean fragrance as you sweep it across your face once or twice a week. I have since discovered a new "three-in-one" skin care product produced by this same fine cosmetic company called Get Down (a cleanser, scrub, and mask all in one!), so recently I have not needed to use this specific sloughing gel as often as before. But when I feel that my skin needs that extra deep down cleansing boost, I reach for my tube of Origins Swept Clean and sweep all those pore clogging impurities away with gentle ease. If you are still unsure if this product is for you, request a sample from your favorite generous Origins beauty representative. For chances are, she'll be more than happy to assist you. Good luck and stay beautiful!
