Pros: Kills many types of weeds - easy to use
Cons: Didn't completely kill every weed in my yard, but I had a lot of them.
This past summer, I took a good look at my lawn, and decided something needed to be done here. I had dandelions and who knows what the heck those other weeds are called growing all over the place. I decided that something needed to be done, before things really got out of hand.
I went to my local garden outlet type of store and found Ortho Greensweep Weed and Feed.
I liked the fact that it seemed pretty easy to use, just hook it up to your garden hose, and start spraying. It also claims to kill over 80 different types of weeds, and is safe to use on all different types of grass. I really have no clue what kind of grass is planted in my yard, but figured that this product would be ok to use. I also thought it would be easy to use, because it does the mixing for you as you spray. No need here to measure anything out.
I got home, and hooked it up to my hose, which was easy enough. Just screw it on the hose, turn on the water, open the valve on the spray bottle, and away you go. There was plenty of the weed and feed to cover my lawn, which I would guess to be 1n the neighborhood of
1800 sq. ft. (average size yard for where I live, not a tiny or very large size lot) The job of spraying my yard didn't take long at all. I was done in about 10 minutes or so.
I did encounter one little problem while spraying. I seems that for some reason the spray bottle didn't connect tightly to my hose, and this caused me to get a little bit wet from the water spraying out of the loose connection.
After a day or so, I did notice the effects of the weed killer. The weeds in my yard were all starting to wilt and die off. Eventually many of the weeds did die, but a few of them seemed to start to come back to life. I went back and spot treated the ones still living.
This really did help green up my yard quite a bit. There was a noticeable difference within a week or two, and the grass seemed to be growing at a faster rate.
Like with any other chemical product, you might want to keep the kids and pets off the grass for 24 hours after using this product. (I also wouldn't recommend throwing that sausage back on the grill that you just dropped in the grass)
This product is also available for purchase in larger amounts, so you can just refill the sprayer and apply more to your lawn when needed.
Overall, this product did a pretty good job at killing most of the weeds in my yard (I had tons on them) as well as help to fertilize it.
