Pros: Easy to use. No chemical smell left after using.
Cons: Preparation a pain but well worth the results.
When we first moved into our home, our first project was to remove the old plastic particle boards from around our shower and bathtub as they were in poor condition.
We started to tear down these boards and quickly had to stop as the walls were crawling with large Carpenter Ants coming from inside the walls.
We quickly shut the door and ran to Home Depot to see what product they recommended to use to remove these insects.
The sales clerk told us to use Ortho Home Hi Power Brand Indoor Insect Fogger which we purchased.
I have used Ortho products for my garden and for fleas in my yard so I know their products are good and I have a lot of faith in this company.
We read all the instructions and did what they recommended as preparation when you use this fogger.
We took our 14 cats and 1 dog to my Mother's house which didn't make her too happy but being my Mom she was happy to help.
All the windows were shut tightly as not to let any of the fog escape, which would keep the fog from penetrating into all the walls. The doors and all the cabinets were opened as well as the sinks and shower.
Any pet food was removed and the their dishes were placed outside.
I removed all my dishes and glassware which was not necessary but I wanted to be sure as I never used this before and I wanted to keep any chemicals from getting on them.
All food such as fruit and candy that was in dishes was put in the refrigerator keeping them safe as well.
All bagged pet food was also put away.
The fogger comes in a box with 3 aerosol cans which was perfect because we placed 1 upstairs, 1 downstairs and 1 in the cellar making sure all our room would be exposed to the fog.
We pulled the tabs on each can and quickly left the house.
After several hours we returned home and when I opened the front door and took a look at my living room I was shocked.
There were ants everywhere even caught in the trim at the top near the ceiling.
The ants were all dead along with spiders and who knows what other creatures laid dead on the floor.
I used my vacuum cleaner with a disposable bag to clean all bugs from the floor.
I made sure that I threw the bag away when I was done so as not to leave any ants with chemical on them for my pets to get nosy and try to eat them.
It left no residue on my furniture or my floors, but just to be safe I mopped and cleaned them because I was afraid the cats might get some of the chemicals on their paws and lick them only to consume some of the poison.
When I went upstairs to the bathroom I could not believe my eyes, my bathtub was full of ants as well as the floor and sink, too.
We opened all the windows in case any fog was lingering inside although I found there was no chemical smell at all only a citrus or flower smell.
We returned all my pets and noticed that none of them got sick from the fog and that proved that this is safe to use.
It has been over 30 years now and we never had a problem with Carpenter Ants again.
I would recommend Ortho Fogger to anyone that has any insect problem because it does the job and it will get rid of any insect that invades your house.
