kld718's Full Review: Oscar Mayer Real Bacon Bits 3oz
I was looking specifically for a few items one day in Target and remembered that I needed some salad fixings, so I wondered into the grocery section to find my items. I usually buy the bacon bits in the glass jar, but I was not in a regular Target and my selection was limited so I purchased a package of Oscar Mayer Real Bacon Bits instead.
The small yellow bag 3 oz. in size and has a zip top that seals the package after opening to keep the little bits fresh. The package does not need to be refrigerated until after you have opened it. There is a small package of minerals inside the little yellow bag to help maintain the freshness of the bits. And for best results, the whole package should be used within fourteen days after opening.

I purchased the Hickory Smoke flavor added variety. Ive never purchased this brand of bacon bits before so Im not quite sure if they make any other flavor variety. If your measuring these bacon bits to regular bacon, using about one full tablespoon will equal approximately one piece of bacon.
Im a fan of bacon bits. Bacon is not the greatest thing in the world for your body, but I like the flavoring it adds to my salads and baked potatoes. It tastes like a real piece of hickory smoked bacon that has just been cut up into pieces. Ive also used these particular bacon bits when making homemade pizza and it worked out just fine. Ive never purchased this particular brand before, preferring to buy the Hormel variety in the glass jar, but I do believe that I am liking these Oscar Mayer bits much better. The little bits are not that little so can be used for a variety of recipes. The larger pieces are easy to use than the little shredded Hormel pieces. They can also be used as a garnish for dips. I make a ranch dip from scratch and always sprinkle a few pieces of bacon bits on the top to make it more aesthetically pleasing. I also sprinkle a few pieces in with some Kraft shredded cheese when making stuffed mushrooms or turkey wraps for lunch.
I purchased my little package at Target for around $1.50 but they are widely available in grocery stores also. They will range in price, depending on where you purchase them. If youre looking for a bacon bit with a lot of hickory flavor and a variety of uses, choose Oscar Mayer Real Bacon Bits. The flavor is much closer to a real bacon flavor than any other bacon bit I have tried. And the size makes them perfect for recipes.
