desertdove's Full Review: Oster 4125 Beehive 2-Speed Blender
I use Oster's Beehive Blender and attachments almost everyday because of its quality, versatility, ease, and convenience.
This is my 2nd Oster Blender in 30 years. I gave our daughter my 1st Oster Blender when she went off to college 4 years ago. That is when I thought I would buy a new blender with more "bells and whistles."
So, I purchased a different but popular name brand blender with a food processor attachment (Is it okay to mention it was a Cuisinart?) and what a nightmare! The liquid whirled out of every seam of the lid the minute it began to blend-the jar was not full. After I cleaned up that mess, I used a towel to cover and tightly hold down the lid and once again began to blend. The towel was wet, but everything was well blended. Then I poured.... No matter how slow, fast, high, or low I poured my blended concoction didnt just spill, it poured beyond the spout, and down the sides of the jar, onto the counter and floor! (I watched this exact scenario to my neighbor's embarrassment when she hosted a Bunko night). That's when I went back for my 2nd Oster Blender.
The Oster Blender has the power to crush frozen fruit and ice cubes to a fine and smooth consistency. The heavy base and rubber feet keep this baby from sliding around the counter top. The 2-speed switch lets you 'let it WHIRL!' or toggle and watch. The measuring marks on the inside of the jar help make consistent smooth, slushy, and frothy Margaritas, a favorite in Arizona. No problem with liquid whirling out of the tightly sealed lid. But, hold it down if the jar becomes too full as you add ingredients through the removable cap while you create your thick and creamy smoothie. There is no mess as your beverage slides smoothly through the spout into your container from either the glass or stainless steel jar.
Instead of lugging out my heavy duty full-size food processor, I use the 2-cup food processor from the blender set for small jobs like making bread crumbs, chopping nuts, or quick vinaigrette. The mini jar is perfect for grinding coffee, seeds, or dried chilies.
I haven't used the milk shake blend so I can't comment on this.
Clean up is a breeze-the glass jar goes right into the dishwasher.
No leaking from the lid or base.
There is no after taste or smell from any of the attachments.
