Unfortunately, I have not even been able to try this blender because the glass jar wobbles so much in the base. I just bought it yesterday, but am ready to take it back. I've tightened the black ring, but the glass unit just rests precariously in the base. None of us can get it to fit properly. It is not safe to operate if the glass jar does not fit snugly. As it is, it's resting on the small metal disk that surrounds the spinning shaft. It seems as if there is a piece missing that should support the weight of the glass jar. I see the jar has notches and there are corresponding notches in the base, but nothing we do corrects the instability. Poor design? I checked the manual, and all of the parts seem to be accounted for.

I've read dozens of reviews, but nobody else mentioned this problem. I am wondering if I received a defective unit. I've had other people attempt to affix the glass jar to the base, but nobody else has been successful either.
I don't know what else to do. I've e-mailed Oster and am waiting for a response. I anticipate a somewhat lengthy response time because I received a preliminary e-mail stating that they were inundated with consumer e-mails. Yikes.
