| melanierose's Full Review: Ouija Board |
This is a highly controversial -- dare I say touchy -- item to be writing about, which I will try to handle as best I can. I'd like outright state that this is simply my views on the Ouija Board. I have no intentions of changing anyone else's views on it. I just want to write about my own.
I've used a Ouija Board on many different occasions. I don't beleive that I have ever communicated with the Devil in this manner. I know that there are many people who would disagree with me about this. I think that everyone should be entitled to their own opinion about the Ouija Board. If you are against it, then don't use it. Speak out against it, if you want. But just respect the fact that other people feel differently about it.
I've never had a bad experience with the Ouija Board. You hear stories about people not being able to remove their hands from the plancette, the board suddenly moving, or the room suddenly becoming quite cold. I have never had anything like this happen to me while playing the game. That's part of the reason why I feel the way that I do about it. If I had ever had a bad experience with the game, I might feel different than I do now.
The Ouija Board consists of a board with all of the letters of the Alphabet on it, as well as Yes, No, and Goodbye. Each person present places there hand on a plastic planchette which points to the different letters and answers any questions that you may ask it.
To me, it's ridiculous to think that a bunch of teenage girls sitting around a piece of cardboard and plastic, could be communicating with evil spirits, allowing their minds to be opened up to Satan. I just can't find the logic in that idea. Where did the idea that using a Ouija Board is a means of talking to the Devil, anyway? Although I've never read the Bible, I'm almost postive that there is nothing about Ouija Boards in it. If you are talking to spirits through the board, who is to say that you're not talking to God? Who is to say you're not talking to any spirit? If people want to say that the Devil will talk to you through the Ouija Board, they should beleive that you can talk to any spirit through it as well. It only sounds logical to me.
I'm under the impression, based on my past experiences with the Ouija Board, that it is a result of the collective subconscious of everyone present involuntary moving the planchette around the board. Everyone there may vow that they never intentionally moved the planchette -- not knowing that in actuality their subconscious mind was causing involuntary muscle movements in their hand, resulting in a movement of the plastic planchette. I've done experiments on this phenomenom before. If you draw a circle on a piece of paper, and hold a weight hanging by a string slightly above the paper, you can see this phenomenom for yourself. Whatever direction you concentrate on moving the weight in, it will do it. Don't consciously move your hand or the weight -- just think about it. Your subconscious mind causes minute muscle movements in your hand to do as your mind wants. It's a very simple little experiment that anyone can do.
If you don't believe the Ouija Board to be anything except for a game, then it can be a lot of fun. It can be kind of creepy too -- seeing a piece of plastic point to different letters and answer your questions does seem kind of spooky. That's what's so great about it. I wouldn't recommend it to small children, though, because they are much more easily scared than adults.
Well, I've said all that I'll ever have to say about the Ouija Board. I respect anyone who thinks different about it. I don't want to 'butt heads' with anyone regarding their religion -- I have respect for every person, the religion they choose to follow, and the beliefs they hold based on it. I simply wanted to present the Ouija Board based on my own experiences, and what I think about it as a result of those experiences.
