You see, yesterday was my boyfriend's mother's birthday, so we decided to take her out to dinner to one of her favorite places. We decided on the Outback, which was cool for me because I had never been there before. My boyfriend called a couple of hours ahead of time to reserve a table, only for them to tell us they don't have reservations, but we're on the list and first come first serve. What is that? No reservations? That's only the beginning of the problems we encountered.
So, our party has arrived twenty minutes early, there's no wait, but we have to wait anyway because they decide to take their sweet time cleaning up. They looked like they were goofing off more then anything. We sit down, mind you there are eight of us, at a small round table. We have seven adults, and one child. Four of the adults are on the large side, and one is in a wheelchair. So first off we're kind of squished and trying not to elbow one another.
Time to search the menu for something that catches our eye. I decide on the Alice Spring Chicken, because I don't really like steak too much. I know, I'm in a steakhouse and I don't want steak. What is wrong with me? To my surprise, and three others at my table, they are all out of chicken. We have to get some kind of steak or burger now, yay! We ask for a little more time to decide, so she brings us our drinks. The waitress got all of our drinks wrong, and didn't give us any straws. She also spilled the six year old's pink lemonade all over the table, and we thought it was the kid that was going to do that!
After we've all decided what we'd like to eat, other then chicken, we sit and wait. Our waitress finally starts bringing out our food. She only has three people's food though. Since when do you serve only three people to a table and then go off for fifteen minutes before serving the others? So the three of us who receive our food first eat slowly, hoping that the others will get food soon and we won't be sitting there doing nothing. I do have to say though, the food was excellent, they just need to put a little bit more pep in there step while serving it up.
The Outback steakhouse automatically charges you a 15% tip to your bill, which was ridiculous because the tip turned out to be $40 for a girl that couldn't get our drinks right, spilled them all over, and didn't give us straws. Not to mention she left us there to die of thirst and hunger because she was too busy chatting with the cute bus boys.
I think I may go back to the Outback, but not for the service. The food was great, and that's enough for me to go back. I'll just make sure I continue to complain about the horrible service until they get it right.
