Pros: Great Food, Great Variety
Cons: Long Wait for a Table!
The Bottom Line: Outback is one of my favorites. The prices are a little high and the wait for the table is long, but worth it.

| Bryan_Carey's Full Review: Outback Steakhouse |
Outback is an excellent family steakhouse, featuring a wide variety of delicious food options. It's an independent restaurant chain and its locations can be found in nearly every state and in 13 different countries. Outback was founded in 1988 and its headquarters is located in Tampa, Florida.
The most memorable thing about Outback is the great tasting food. Outback offers much more than just delicious, juicy steaks. You can start out with an appetizer; like Aussie cheese fries, coconut shrimp, soup, or buffalo chicken wings. Then, you can order yourself a speciality salad, like a Queensland salad or a Brisbane caeser salad. These warm- up items are great- tasting enough that you could eat them as a meal, all by themselves.
Moving on to the dinner items, you will find that Outback has great variety and great food. On the steak menu, Outback has small options, like an 8oz. prime rib; medium- size options, like a 12oz. Outback Sirloin Special; and large- size options, like a 20oz. Porterhouse steak, for those with hearty appetites.
If steak is not to your liking, there are many other choices like Alice Springs Chicken (grilled chicken breast, bacon, cheese, and chips), Brisbane Shrimp (shrimp sauteed with mushrooms and served over fetuccine), and, my favorite, Jackeroo Chops (two pork chops served with a baked potato and cinnamon apples). There's also a sandwich menu that includes burgers and chicken breast sandwiches, and a menu section called "Grilled on the Barbie", which features grilled ribs and chicken served with vegetables. In addition to all of this, they also have kid's menu and a few desserts.
Outback's foods are excellent, and I can honestly say that I have never had a bad meal when I have dined here. However, Outback does have two major faults that might discourage some people from eating here. The number one annoyance is the incredibly long wait to get seated for dinner. I've never gone to Outback for lunch, so I can't say anything about that. But every time I have gone there for dinner, there has been a long wait. Sometimes, it has been as short as 30 minutes; other times, as long as 90 minutes. Outback restaurants are usually very large with plenty of tables and seats. But this restaurant's popularity is so great that it's always crowded for dinner. No matter how quickly they empty the tables, people come pouring in at a faster rate than the Outback employees can properly handle.
The second strike against Outback is its high prices. From the sandwiches; to the steaks; to the drinks; everything on the menu will strain your wallet. And the long wait at the beginning doesn't help matters because you're likely to go to the bar for drinks, while you wait to be seated. A couple can easily spend $20 to $50 at the bar while they wait for their names to be called for seating. If your budget is tight, try to sit and wait for your table without going to the bar for a drink.
Outback is one of my favorite restaurants. The food is great, in spite of the long wait. And the fact that it's always so crowded proves that other people feel the same way. If you haven't been here, make an appointment on your calendar and visit as soon as you can. Ok, so they don't serve Vegemite sandwiches. But the excellent food that they do serve will impress even the fussiest consumers.
