Dinning in Little Rock is a major weekend occasion. You will always find it to be a long wait whenever you go out to eat on Friday or Saturday night. My family and I had never been to Outback because it was always so crowded, so one Saturday night we thought we would give it a shot.
When we got there it was of course crowded and the wait was about 30 minutes or so. We figured a restaurant that was always crowded like this has to be pretty good.
We loved the decor, rustic yet classy. They had large tables for large groups of people. I am not one to eat at a restaurant where I feel crowded. We were met first by the hostess who seemed all of about 16 years old but polite. She seated us fairly quickly mainly because our party only consisted of three and we preferred non-smoking.
Our waitress was very nice and eager to serve. She brought our drinks and appetizers shortly after sitting. We had ordered their Cheese fries, which was an excellent way to start off our dinning adventure. My husband ordered the blooming onion and he loved every bit of that.
For our dinner I ordered the Alice Springs Chicken. Which came smothered in cheese, sauce and mushrooms. While halfway through the chicken, I decided to give it a gander and see how it was prepared so that I may prepare it at home. To my surprise, I lifted up the chicken and a layer of cheese and saw part of a rubber glove!
I immediately became nauseous and no longer had any form of an appetite! When I told the waitress what I saw, she explained to me that the chef probably cut it off while preparing the meal. I asked her how someone could not realize that they were missing half of a rubber glove! She had no answer.
The waitress went and told the hostess what had happened, as I looked over to them I see the hostess laughing at my dilemma. I was utterly shocked at her behavior. The best Outback could do was offer to take the price of the chicken off of our ticket and give us a coupon for a free blooming onion on our next visit.
I explained to her that there would be no next visit and the rubber glove was totally uncalled for because I had already eaten part of it and that I may become sick from it. Needless to say we ended up getting our whole dinner for free and we are still not going back to that Outback.
So when you dine out, check your food. You never know what may lie beneath.
