Pros: Everything works!!!! No batteries except for the flashlight!

A few months back, my 10 year old son received the Edu Science Outdoor Adventure Kit as a gift. Being the little adventurer/camper/hiker/outdoorsman that he is, this gift was absolutely perfect for him.
Contents
In this package there is one of each of the following:
35mm focus free camera: Here is a light weight 35mm camera. My son kept asking me if he could use his camera and I kept telling him he had to wait because I needed to buy film and batteries for it. I finally got around to buying the film for it but didn't know what type of batteries it needed. After 2 months, I learned the camera does not need batteries. Isn't it wonderful?
The film has to be wind manually, and after each picture you have to advance the film manually. It's been quite a long time since I played with a manual 35mm camera, but my son caught on after I showed him one time. There is no flash with the camera, but there is a spot where you can attach a flash to the top of the camera. We decided not to bother with that since all the pictures my son took were in light. The pictures were pretty good considering a 10 year old took them and it was taken with a not so state of the art camera.
Compact Binoculars: My son has a very expensive pair of binoculars, so these things do not compare to the real ones at all. However, these were appealing to my 6 year old son since he doesn't have a good pair to compare them to. Just like regular binoculars, the eye pieces fold into the middle making the binoculars easy to fit into a pocket. They can be adjusted to make the picture clearer, just don't expect to look to far with these.
A telescope for little hands: Also included in the set is a handheld telescope designed for little hands. It magnifies 10x, and the site is very clear. Looking through the window across the street, you can see a bird in the pal tree up close.
A folding compass: The compass is compact and folds up. The top flips open and a magnifying glass is revealed. The compass is accurate and has taught my son east, west, north and south. He hasn't learned what you do with the magnifying glass yet, but thats ok, I am in no hurry to fight any fires.
Digital Watch: We are not talking a swiss here, but the digital watch has an adjustable band and again is designed for little wrists. The watch has minutes and seconds, but no date and no back light. The battery in the watch went dead within weeks, but nothing a new battery cant fix.
Flashlight: Unfortunately, not everything included in the package is battery free. The flashlight needs 2 AA batteries to operate and it is not included in the set. The flashlight will not light up a room, but it does its job of allowing your child to see in front of him in the dark. The light only goes a distance of a few feet, bit if its used while camping, it can light up the tent.
The binoculars, camera and the flashlight come with a rope carrying handle. The telescope measures 6 inches long when it is closed, so just tossing it into a pocket is not really an option unless you have deep pockets. All the items are in gold color and have black around the edges. Each item had the Edu Science logo on them.
Overall, my son really likes his Edu Science Outdoor Adventure Kit even though he has other more advanced expensive items of the similar. I would highly recommend this item for any child between 5 & 10 years of age.
