Dig Up Some Frozen Dessert with an Oxo Beak Shaped Ice Cream Scoop!

I actually have two Oxo Ice Cream Scoops, one of which is this Beak Shaped Ice Cream Scoop. This was one of my first Oxo products, and has definitely contributed toward my dependence on this brand for excellent kitchen products.
Appearance
As with most/all Oxo products, the Ice Cream Scoop has a black, rubberized handle. The front of the scoop is pointier rather than round or squared. It comes to a sort of oval tip, which explains the “beak” name.
The handle has a hole in it, for easy storage. The rubber is textured on the sides in little “fins” for better gripping.
Functionality
This is like your typical ice cream scoop, but a little pointier. It helps to dig into the ice cream.
The great thing about this Oxo product are those trademark non-slip handles. Whether your hands are wet or greasy, you never have a problem gripping on the handle, which is also nice and wide (not to mention the texture). I don’t have the greatest arm strength, so it’s nice to have the additional leverage gained from strong grip.
The shape of the scoop helps to dig into the ice cream (or sorbet or whatnot), by using a smaller surface to initially dig in. The shape is also nice for getting into corners of ice cream containers.
Of course, rubber also doesn’t conduct much in terms of temperature, so it’s another reason why it’s such a great feature.
Durability & Guarantee
I’m always happy to learn that Oxo products are dishwasher safe. I usually clean them right away so that they are on hand (being the high-demand kitchen items they are!), but it’s good to know they they’ll withstand a dishwasher washing.
The Ice Cream Scoop is one-piece aluminum construction. It is strong and durable, and won’t bend.
All Oxo items are guaranteed, so if you’re ever dissatisfied or something breaks, you can get a refund or replacement.
Price & Where to find
I bought my Oxo Beak Shaped Ice Cream Scoop at a Linens & Things store, I think around $10 (it's been a while!). They usually have a pretty good selection of Oxo products. One of the incentives I use is the Bed Bath & Beyond and Linens ‘N Things coupons that I get. They both accept each other’s (competitors) coupons, and are usually 20% off one item of $5 off a $15 purchase. This can mean basically getting a free Oxo item or a cheap one, depending on how you use it.
The prices definitely are worth it. I’ve had all of my Oxo products for years, and they are a valuable investment. I would so much rather put the money into an item like this, rather than bending spoons and dealing with the frustration of cold hands, slippery handles, and too much surface area when trying to dig into ice cream.
Overall Thoughts
With not a lot of arm strength, I really appreciate the Oxo Beak Shaped Ice Cream Scoop. I use this all the time, whether it’s for ice cream or sorbet. It cuts nicely into frozen desserts, and is much easier to use than many other scoops I’ve used.
