Pros: Got rid of zits that other products - even prescription - couldn't.
Cons: Dries out my skin if used too frequently. Can also bleach fabrics.
The Bottom Line: Try it.

| millin's Full Review: Oxy Balance Acne Treatment |
I had an acne breakout as a teenager and prescription antibiotics took care of it. Then I went a few years with no acne, and then it started to come back in my mid-twenties. My dermatologist prescribed tons of antibiotics, and this helped to a large extent, but not completely. I especially continued to have problems with chin acne. I didn't want to resort to Accutane, so I decided to experiment with a few over the counter products. This product - along with the Oxy face wash - has worked wonders. My skin has never been so clear. I haven't had a single zit for about 6 months. I have been able to decrease the amount of antibiotics I am taking.
This product may not work for everyone. I think it really depends on the type of acne you have, and how sensitive your skin is to benzoyl peroxide. But I do have pretty sensitive skin, and the dry, flaky skin I experienced during the first couple of months with this product is now gone. If you do experience flaky skin, you can use the product every other day or even every 3 days and you'll likely still reap some benefits.
The major problem with Oxy is its bleaching properties. I have a couple of items of clothing that have been ruined by it. It's best to let the product completely dry before touching any fabric. Even then though I think there can be some bleaching over time. It can also lighten your hair a bit. I think this is especially the case if your hair is processed (e.g. you have a perm, relaxer) because processed hair is more porous. It's weird because I haven't experienced any lightening around my hairline (where you might expect it given that you put Oxy on your face), but have slightly on the ends. I think its because the hair there is older and therefore more vulnerable. The ends of my hair are probably exposed when I sleep and get Oxy on my pillow case. So if you have dark hair, you might want to put it on in the morning instead of at night.
