On a whim, I put this on my Christmas list last year. I was quite amazed that my husband actually put it under the tree. Since then, I have found so many uses for this little wonder.
I like things neatly labeled and organized but my handwriting often lacks the uniformity and look I like. I hate going in to my publishing program to pop out three labels for files or a label for my daughter's toy before she totes it off to school. This machine is not only quick and easy to use, but it can go with me most anywhere. AND it's fun.
I wish I could tell you all the features but I'm still learning new ones. Although it only uses 1/4", 1/2", or 3/4 tape, there are six type sizes. The tape cassettes are available in colors as well as clear and white and easy to take in and out. The length of label you print is not limited. You can vary the style of type as well; Italic, Bold, Vertical, Italic Bold, Italic Shadow, Italic Outline, Shadow, Normal, Outline. You can also underline the type you wish. There are a half dozen frames for labels you can choose from as well, including a candy wrapper which my children adore. It can type multiple labels of the same entry if you wish or print a sequence such as File 1, File 2, File 3, etc. It has a memory and recall. It can mirror print and you can even make a template for ink stamps with it. PHEW!!! Is that enough?
I also like the fact that it turns off on it's own if left for a time. It has a full alphabet on the keyboard as well as upper and lower cases. Accents and similar language symbols are also included as well as a large selection of symbols such as stars, arrows, heart, math symbols, handicap symbol, music note....
As you can see, I could go on and on about all the features it offers. I have used it for name tags, files, binders, scrapbooks....the list goes on and on. My favorite use has to be labeling school supplies in the fall for my daughter. She had a terrific time printing labels for all of her supplies while mom didn't have to write on adhesive tape with a permanent marker. Hallelujah!
The adhesive on these labels is very good. A handy device is included that helps you to start the corner of the label and a good instruction book. A latch on the left hand side of the machine cuts the tape cleanly and precisely. (By the way, this is not a device for a child to use unsupervised. It does have a sharp cutting edge inside.)
The replacement rolls are expensive but they do last a long time, printing many many labels before replacement is needed.
I hope this has given you a quick overview of what I think is a fine product. It is well made and has performed very well. It is compact and sturdy....believe me, I've dropped it!
