Cons: Website, customer service, return policy, and overall quality of the unit.
The Bottom Line: This is a poorly constructed unit. Use at you own risk. I was thoroughly disgusted at the lack of professional website and customer service department.
sophiesdad's Full Review: PEDIPAWS DOG NAIL GRINDER AS SEEN ON TV...
I have two Field Spaniels and have had 3 other dogs in the past 26 years. I have always clipped their nails especially after walking into a Pet Smart store and witnessing a 'groomer' clipping nails on a screaming Scottish Terrier and then plunging the nails into styptic powder to stop the bleeding!
When I first saw the commercial for Pedi Paws, I had also been considering the more expensive Pedi Cure nail groomer. Pedi Paws seemed reasonable, so I decided to try it.
My first encounter with this company was when I went to their website to order the unit. After completing all of the shipping, billing, and credit card information, I pressed submit and...........and....... and..... boom! Sorry, we are not able to process your order at this time.
So now my quandry is whether or not to buy another unit via the telephone number or play Russian Roulette and try the website and risk getting another bill and/or unit shipped to me.
I opted to call the order line only to find out that it was a recording that only accepted your shipping information and credit card number. I decided to order the unit and tried to leave a message about the previous problem. I was able to order the unit, but nothing more.
So, I went to the website and finally found a "contact us" link and sent an email about the problem. I received a response that the original unit was already shipped to me in addition to the second unit that I ordered via the telephone. However, I could return the first unit, at my expense, for a refund. I was so frustrated at this point that I refused the second order when it arrived.
The original one finally arrived, and I decided to check its quality before sending it back. First of all, the shipping/packing material was pitiful. The "container" was nothing more than a very thin corrugated cardboard - the kind that you typically see used on interior boxes or to wrap around items that are fragile. The top of the box was held closed by a piece of shipping tape. There were gapes all around the remainder of the box and it arrived in poor shape. My address was ink sprayed on the top of the box.
The unit itself was wrapped in one piece of small bubble wrap - barely enough to provide even minimum protection from the rigors of shipping.
At this point, I wanted to look at the groomer and decide whether or not to return it. I used as a benchmark, the more expensive Pedicure which is also advertised on television.
Pedipaws uses 2 "C" cell batteries. They are not rechargeable. Wouldn't it make sense to have this feature from not only a "green" standpoint, but also to have a charging stand to store the unit? The plastic was very cheap and turning it on resulted in quite a bit of vibration - obviously the shaft or the head was not completely balanced. I couldn't imagine going after my dogs with this unit and not have an unpleasant experience.
The 2- "C" Cell batteries did not have enough power to grind through the heavy nails of a spaniel.
In conclusion, I would never recommend this product for even my worst enemy. It is cheaply constructed, will probably not last very long, and is poorly shipped and marketed.
Save your money and get the more expensive Pedicure (read my other review.
