Pros: Pretty comfortable, good sound, convertible between over-the-ear and headband style, good fidelity
Cons: Too many pieces to lose, not that comfortable
The Bottom Line: Pretty darn good headset. I just wish there weren't so many pieces to snap together and to come apart!

| Jim.W's Full Review: PLANTRONICS M175 Headset for use with cellular and... |
I like using headsets for talking on the phone. My arm gets tired holding the handset to my ear, and when using a cell phone, I like to have the radiation source as far from my brain as possible. My Jabra Ear Boom, an in-the-ear model, never really feels comfortable and has a nasty habit of falling out at the wrong time. When I saw the Plantronics M175 in the Amazon Friday Sale for $21.75, I jumped on it. It turned out to be a great investment.
Pros:
1. Convertible between over-the-ear and headband style,
2. Independently adjustable earpiece and microphone volume settings,
3. Mute switch,
4. Good sound quality, and
5. Noise cancelling microphone (so they say. I haven't used it in a noisy environment like a car, so I can't comment on how well that function works.).
Cons:
1. Too many pieces to lose. To change from over-the-ear to headband you need to a) unsnap the headband, b) remove the foam ear pad, c) clip a ring on the earpiece, and d) slide in the clip that slides over your ear. Because of all the pieces the ruggedness of the unit over the long haul is questionable.
Comfort:
I use mine exclusively in the headband style. It isn't too tight and doesn't have any pressure points. Maybe it's because I wear glasses, but the over-the-ear style never felt comfortable.
Net:
I like this headset and use it quite often at home. I leave the more compact Jabra Ear Boom in my car since it stores easily and I don't spend that much time on my cell phone in the car. The comfort and sound quality of the Plantronics are far superior.
