Pros:Tons of storage, slide-cover design, compact size
The Bottom Line: The PNY (PFD32GATT03EF) (32 GB) USB 2.0 Flash Drive is perfect for anyone needing to transfer large files. I would highly recommend this product for everyone
The other day, my son came to me needing a new flash drive for one of his Engineering classes, at school. He informed me that all of the flash drives we currently have in the house are just too small for what he needed. I told him that I would get one for him the next time I went shopping.

That following Saturday I was at our local electronics store and figured I would see what they had on sale and pick up the biggest one I could get for him. They had several models to choose from and several different memory capacities. I decided on a 32GB flash drive, from a company that I could trust. That company was PNY and they are a company I have relied on several times for computer components.
PNY (PFD32GATT03EF) (32 GB) USB 2.0 Flash Drive:
One of the things that has always attracted me to the PNY brand USB flash drives has been their compact size. The PNY 32GB model is no different; it is smaller than a pack of chewing gum. This makes it very easy to conceal in a pocket or you can attach a loop and a neck lanyard to the small, almost hidden eyelet on the end of the device.
One of negative aspects of the other PNY brand USB flash drives was that they all had removable caps that covered over the USB connector. This requires you to remove the cap to plug it into the USB port and this is what caused me to lose the cap from several flash drives.
However, that is not an issue with this flash drive, PNY added a cool feature to this flash drive and it eliminated the cover completely. They replaced it with a slide mechanism that when closed the cover fits over the top of the connector. So when you are ready to use it, you simply slide the cover downward and it exposes the USB connector.
Easy to Operate
If you have never used a USB Flash Drive also known as Thumb Drives, it could not be any simpler. You slide the USB cover down exposing the USB connector and then plug it into any open USB port your PC or Mac. It will work with all versions of Windows OS and Mac OSX. On a Windows OS machine, it will be immediately identified as a storage device and load the appropriate driver.
Once that happens you are ready to copy files over to the PNY flash drive. You can copy any files onto this regardless of file type and store them for safekeeping or just to transfer them to a different machine. The speed at which the files copy will depend on a few factors; type of USB port and size of file you are copying. It is compatible with both USB 2.0 and 1.0, with the 1.0 being a nearly obsolete variety.
My Final Thoughts
Flash drive or thumb drives as some people call them have definitely revolutionized the way we save and transfer files from one computer to another. I remember many years ago we used to have to use bulky floppy disks to make copies of work files if you needed to bring work home from the office. Now, we have these small compact devices smaller than a pack of chewing gums that holds more than data than stack of floppy disks or CD’s.
The PNY (PFD32GATT03EF) (32 GB) USB 2.0 Flash Drive was definitely worth the $25.00 I spent for it on sale. It was exactly what my son needed to complete his assignment for his class. I also liked the fact that it should last him all through his four years of college.
This flash drive is very well made and because of the high impact plastic it is designed to resist damage, even if you accidentally drop it on the ground. The slide cover feature is a huge plus in my book, especially as compared to earlier models from PNY. I have owned several models from them and I never had a problem with them not working.
Using them cannot be any easier, just pull out of your pocket or from around your neck if you added a neck lanyard like I did. Then slide open the cover and expose the USB connector and you are ready to plug it in to any open USB port on your computer or Mac.
Inside Windows Explorer you will find an icon for a Removable Disk and if you double click on that drive letter you can drag and drop or copy and paste your files directly onto the flash drive. Depending on how large the files it will on take a few seconds to several minutes. Once it is done you can safely unplug the flash drive and carry it to the other computer and copy the files off the drive onto the other computer.
If you find yourself in the market for a flash drive, you cannot go wrong if you check out the PNY (PFD32GATT03EF) (32 GB) USB 2.0 Flash Drive, it is a very reliable and durable device that can stand up to excessive handling and abuse.
