When searching for a solution to my poor water, I researched under-the-sink reverse osmosis systems, water pitchers, purified water by the gallon, and faucet mount filtration systems. After researching the various brands, the Pur Plus Faucet Mount stuck out as being the one for me. It is a small, inexpensive alternative to the big under-the-sink systems, and very convenient compared to the pitchers.

The Pur Plus model swivels, allowing you to use plain tap water when washing dishes. Flip the unit down and receive pure drinking water, free of 99.9% of contaminants.

Built in to the purifier is a gauge, which tells one how much of the filter has been used. This allows one to plan ahead when buying filters. Pur claims the filter will last 2-3 months; however, I find myself replacing the filter every 2 months. This is due to the fact that my water is very hard, and I drink a lot of it. When the filter's life has expired, the water flow through the filter shuts off until a clean filter has been inserted…don't worry, you can still use the tap water.

Replacement filters are a bit expensive. Sams Club has rebates on three packs about every three months. They end up being about $15 a piece.

I have not experience any problems with my Pur Plus faucet mount water filter. However, one must be certain the unit is tightly secured to the faucet, else a jet of water might finds its way to one's face.

Although pleased with the filtration unit, I would not recommend it as a gift, because after two months, the receiver of the gift will wind up in the store paying for a filter. Let that person place that burden upon their self when they choose. I would, however, recommend this to anyone who wishes to enjoy pure water at a relatively low price.
