We have had a Brita filter pitcher for several years. In fact I really wasn't sure I would like it since I was a bottled water person. I liked getting the taste of bottled water and to be honest the Brita wasn't as good. After time it got better, or really I got use to it. The cost of the filters vs. bottled water was also a factor in the long run. So, now I am okay with my Brita and you only have filtered water that fits in the pitcher but hey that's okay too. Hubby comes home with this new PUR attach on the faucet filter. I wasn't ready for this new change. However, in one glass I was convinced. I am not kidding it took one glass and we even did a taste test between: tap vs. Brita vs. PUR. No contest PUR won.
The water from the faucet that came through the PUR was as good as any bottled water. There was a taste difference between the PUR and the Brita and I have to admit that the PUR took out even more of the "tap" taste that the Brita left behind. We have had our PUR for two weeks now and I wonder what I did before. I can already tell that the price of the filter as compared to the cost of bottled water is going to be much less in the long run. Ok the filters run about $13.00 each from Costco, but the bottles (individual Crystal Geyser Water 32 oz) at about 3 a day per person in my family runs about $1.50 per day and in a month that will cost far more than a PUR filter, and not as much water.
I hate drinking water, so it better taste good if I am going to do it. PUR is the best tasting water I have found and it just floors me that it comes from my tap. I have kept my Briter pitcher so I can have cold water...but now it is even better because I fill the Brita with water from the PUR tap...it really does make a difference in the taste.
For Christmas this year we got a hot water pot, and I can already see the difference and taste the difference that using the PUR water has made. We live in an area with water so hard you can walk on it. Everything gets destroyed by the hard water deposits, but in just a short time the coffee pot container is showing less hard water spots and the hot water pot has less build up as well.
PUR in a short few weeks has made me a believer. I have used the Brita in the coffee pot and hot water pot and the hard water deposits were still a problem. The PUR wins hands down. Don't take my word, take the taste challenge. Buy the PUR and compare it to tap and Brita and see if you can't taste the difference. If not take it back to the store, Costco will even take it back no questions asked, but I doubt you will.
PUR seems to be more money but again I challenge you to really do the math. If you are like my family where you drink bottled water consider the cost and the amount of water, now compare the amount of water (oz per oz) and you will see that your PUR filter is cheaper in the long run.
I will keep my Brita because then I have cold water when I want, but in the long run the winner is PUR.
