| obx001's Full Review: Pur Ultimate Faucet Mount Water Filter Fm4010l |
I recently purchased a Pur Ultimate water
filter for 24.95. These water filters come in
four colors. White, black, chrome and brushed
stainless steel. I purchased the stainless steel
model.
These type of filters are great. They remove/reduce
Benzene, TCE, Toxaphene that are linked to
cancer. Also removes/reduces lead, chlorine, MTBE,
cryptosporidium, giardia and more...
The filter is quite easy to install without any tools.
They include 2 screw adapters to fit your type faucet along
with 4 rubber seals to prevent leaks.
Filter installation is quite simple. It has a lever
to switch from free flow unfiltered water to
filtered water.
The filter is not to be used to filter HOT water and
this warning is in the directions. The filter has
a life indicator which is easily read due to its
horizontal orientation. I prefer this model
to the vertical units, but its a user choice.
The replacement filters are comparable in price
to other makes. Yes they seem kinda of expensive.
Depending on how dirty your water is. How soon your
filter needs replacement will determine how much
you spend on replacement filters over a years time.
Being on city water I expect good use out of this
filter. It is nice to know that you remove unwanted
tastes as well as chemicals in the water you drink.
In comparing to other water filtration systems,
I think that this filter will give most bang for the
buck. Also its portable and you can easily take it
with you if needed. Just be sure to keep the the two
faucet adapters and seals.
People gripe about air pollution, why not have the
added benefit of a filter for your water!!
