Pros:Toasty rich medium-to-full body. Inexpensive. Even draw, burn, and ash
Cons:may burn slightly hot at the end.
The Bottom Line: Its inexpensive price and rich flavors make Padron a favorite of many. Add to that the excellent construction and burn, and you have the perfect 30 minute weekend cigar.
I'll use Cigar Aficionado's 100 pt. rating system
Appearance and Construction
[13/15]This is a 50 ring gauge cigar. It measures 5 inches long. Filler is packed firmly evenly into the box-pressed smooth brown wrapper. Cap is well-integrated with minor inconsistencies from cigar to cigar in a box. When aged in the humidor, some bloom develops.
Flavor
[22/25] Thick white smoke and substantive mouthfeel. Rich espresso, celeriac, cedar, vanilla start this delicious cigar off. Eventually, the espresso dominates with pronounced spice from the proximal 3 inches.
Burn
[24/25] Stiff, smooth ash from a perfectly circular burn. Near perfect draw. I've wedge and guillotine cut this cigar. The wedge cut gives a slightly stiffer draw, but certainly not painful.
Overall Impression
[31/35] This is one of my staple smokes. It has very good flavor and good burning characteristics. Its smaller size makes it a good smoke to enjoy in half an hour. Although the 2000 has moderately complex character, it cannot beat top Cuban smokes, as it lacks the deeply complex character.
