| sweet_caroline's Full Review: Palisades Muppets Series 2: Floyd Pepper |
Floyd Pepper...what can you say about him?...he's so cool! I love him! As one of the five members of the
Electric Mayhem band, Floyd Pepper is one of the most hip and stylin' Muppets from The Muppet Show.
Palisades Toys has done a wonderful job, as usual, with the creation of this figure from series two. Floyd's
likeness is captured superbly, with great detail and sculpt. I love this figure.
SCULPT AND PAINT:
As I said before, the workmanship on this figure is awesome. This Floyd Pepper figure looks just like the original character from the Muppet Show and Muppet movies.
Floyd is wearing a long red tunic with elbow-length cut off sleeves, shoulder lapels with black tassels, and gold embroidery-like design and buttons on the front. He is also wearing a brown long sleeve undershirt with fabric-like texture, blue pants with detailed seams, and knee high brown boots with heels. He also wears a khaki green cap, which has a really cool feature...it has a magnet in it to hold the hat to the top of his head that is also
magnetized. I think this was a great idea because it stays on his head really well and it doesn't need to be fitted
on in any awkward way. I've seen this feature used with the Fozzie figure in the same line. His clothing is exactly how I remember him from the show and he really looks great.
His face and hands are pink in skin tone, as is true to the original character. Also, his long hair is a rusty
orange that is pulled back into a ponytail, which is made of pliable plastic creating a nice effect. His long flowing mustache is a bright orange and his bushy long eyebrows are white. His look is completed by his characteristic big long orange nose, black egg shaped eyes resembling sunglasses, as well as a mouth complete with
a pink tongue.
Floyd's overall appearance is awesome and I love it. I was really impressed with the work that went into creating such a great likeness.
ARTICULATION:
Floyd Pepper is one of the more flexible Muppet figures I've seen! He has 12 points of articulation. Each point of
articulation is quite variable in it's movements and poses, no rigid or stiff joints like some figures. I find that this makes for a really cool effect when setting up displays or scenes, as you can pose him in so many different ways.
He turns his head from side to side, rotates at the shoulders with balljoints, swivels at the elbows, rotates his hands, turns at the waist, swivels at the top of each leg, and turns his feet at the knees. I find that the many
points of articulation allow him to stand very well on his own and doesn't seem to need the stand that comes with the set. He just looks awesome!
ACCESSORIES:
Floyd Pepper comes with a couple of very cool accessories:
~ A great looking gold-rust coloured electric base guitar with all the details, as well as a guitar strap that goes around Floyd's shoulders. Floyd hold the guitar just fine in his hands and the sculpt of his hands make it appear that he is playing the guitar.
~ A cool looking vintage black and chrome guitar amplifier, which is corded to the base guitar.
~ A black oval stand with The Muppet Show logo on top to use if you like, even though he stands well on his
own.
Floyd's accessories are very cool and look great with him. They make for an awesome effect, especially if you own other band member figures from the Palisades Muppet line. There is also an Electric Mayhem Stage Playset that comes with the Animal figure, which is now available and I've heard it's really awesome. I'll be
getting mine soon...just waiting to find a good price.
FINAL JUDGMENT:
Floyd Pepper is an awesome figure. He looks great with superb likeness to the original character. His articulation is amazing and his props are very cool. I think he's a great figure to have in any collection or if you are just a Muppet fan.
Just for added information there is another exclusive variation of Floyd Pepper from Palisades Toys. He has on different colour variations of clothing and his guitar is a different colour. You can view him on Palisades website at www.palisadestoys.com/new/index.php
There are 4 other band members in the Electric Mayhem band including Dr. Teeth (series one), Animal and the Stage Playset (series two), Zoot (series three), and Janice (coming soon in series five). As
soon as I got one of the band members I knew I'd have to get all of them, and now I can't wait!
