Pros: Incredibly detailed sculpt and paint applications (and my first Dr. Teeth toy EVER!)
Cons: Where did that hat go?
The Bottom Line: Quite possibly my favorite of the Muppet Show line from Palisades Toys, this figure showcases the quality and care that they're giving to my friends and family.

| JediKermit's Full Review: Palisades The Muppet Show: Dr. Teeth 6" Figure |
When you think of the Muppets (like I do every day) you probably think of Kermit and Fozzie Bear and the kind of warm, fuzzy feelings they inspire that may be showcased in, say, a MasterCard commercial. But beyond that, especially in the era of "The Muppet Show," they were also very edgy...there was an element of the counterculture in them that seemed to embrace violence, sex, drugs, and rock n' roll. That element is probably best represented by The Electric Mayhem--the Muppet band consisting of Dr. Teeth, Floyd, Janice, Zoot, and everyone's favorite drummer, ANIMAL!!!
Palisades Toys, renowned for their sculpts and their worship by toy fans, has struck gold (or a gold tooth) again by making the leader of Electric Mayhem, the good Dr. Teeth. Dr. Teeth is one of the grooviest, most psychedelic, pimped-out characters the Muppets ever created, and Palisades has reproduced him perfectly at the six-inch action figure scale. My absolute, jaw- dropping love and astonishment for this toy focuses on two things: his face and his costume.
The face is dead-on PERFECT. His green skin is textured to represent the flocked foam rubber reality of the puppet--covered in tiny little dimples that make it look like the puppet was shrunk down and put into your hands. His red-orange hair and beard frame his face, and every detail, every strand just curls around and looks much more natural than most hair sculpts on action figures (like the entire Star Wars Episode II line-up). His trademark one gold tooth is shiny and really stands out, along with his glasses/eyelids that are affixed to his eyes. His mouth is positioned in mid-laugh, mid-wisecrack, or mid-song, which is how I always want to remember Dr. Teeth.
The costume is the one he wore most during "The Muppet Show," and it's one that would even show up Elton John (a guest star on the show, so we know it really did!) He's wearing a red-and- blue striped shirt that he may have borrowed from Ernie and forgotten to return. Over that he's wearing a paisley cumberbund (how on earth do you spell that?), enormous pink and yellow fringed cuffs, four silver rings, a necklace, and an absolutely amazing fringe-and-ostrich plume vest that has layers of purple, pink, magenta, and orange in it. The details on that vest still make my eyes bug out. It's hard to explain this level of detail without uploading some pictures to back it up, but when you have a vest made of feathers/fringe, there will be constant shedding going on- -and Palisades has shown us that by having a few individual strands on each row coming out and extending into the next row. Perfectly sculpted, perfectly painted--and it's a detail they could have easily left out. I'm glad they didn't.
Dr. Teeth's legs, only seen a few times (as is the case with many Muppets) that I'm aware of, are comically short, but you quickly get used to seeing his jeans and moccasin-boots. They complement the rest of the figure perfectly. Dr. Teeth is topped off by a pink furry hat that can do double duty with any Pimp action figures you've got loitering around the toy shelf. That's my one minor gripe (this is still a five star action figure) with Dr. Teeth--the hat is removable and loose, and although mine rests perfectly on his little head, it comes off rather easily in chase scenes. I understand that beginning with the next wave of Muppet Action Figures, Palisades is ingeniously putting magnets in the heads and hats of hat-wearing characters, like Fozzie Bear, Floyd the guitarist, and others. GENIUS! I wish Dr. Teeth had that feature, but it doesn't make me love him any less.
Dr. Teeth comes with a black keyboard and a "Muppet Show" display base; I understand from musician friends that the keyboard is very accurate--probably more accurate than anything they ever used as a prop on "The Muppet Show."
Although Kermit is my favorite Muppet, it's the more obscure crazy characters like Dr. Teeth and his band-mates that are making me fall in love with Palisades Toys, and renewing my love with the characters these toys are representing. If you can still find Dr. Teeth, SNAG HIM! You're most likely to find him at Toys R Us, Media Play, or EB; he'll soon be joined by his good friends and fellow musicians Floyd and Animal, who along with Gonzo, Fozzie Bear, and Crazy Harry, make up the next wave of marvelous Muppety magic from Palisades Toys.
