Pros: Piggy's such a main Muppet character that she's a must have for any collection
Cons: poor detail and accessories, lacks articulation
The Bottom Line: Although I'm recommending this figure, it is not up to par with the rest of the Muppet line. However, it's Piggy...and your collection would not be complete without her.

| sweet_caroline's Full Review: Palisades The Muppet Show: Miss Piggy 6" Figure |
This is Palisades' Miss Piggy figure from Series One of the Muppet line. To be honest, I was not all that
impressed by the way this figure turned out. Of Series One through Four, it is my least favorite figure. I'm
pretty disappointed about this because Miss Piggy is such a memorable and main character from The Muppet Show and other Muppet movies.
SCULPT AND PAINT:
The job that Palisades did with Miss Piggy is not their usual excellent workmanship, which greatly disappointed me.
Miss Piggy is wearing a V-necked, low backed, purple gown with a thigh-high slit up the left side of the dress. The
skirt portion is made of pliable plastic, which I find a nice touch. She is also wearing a gold coloured belt/sash
around her waist, and long mauve gloves past her elbows. In addition, she's donning a white pearl choker necklace and a gold ring with purple high-heeled shoes. In general, the detail of the clothing is poor compared to other figures in the line, who have fabric-like detail, creases, wrinkles, hems, seams, etc.
Miss Piggy's face, arms, legs and upper body are a peachy skin tone, which is appropriate and true to the original
character. She has big blue eyes with dark eyelashes and mauve eyeshadow on her heavy eyelids. Her golden hair is
swept up in a bun at the back of her head, and her two pointy, piggy ears poke through at the top.
There is a good likeness to the original character, but it does not seem as good as other figures in the line.
ARTICULATION:
Miss Piggy lacks in this department compared to other Muppet figures, with a mere 5 points of articulation.
She rotates at the shoulders with ball joints, swivels mid upper-arm, and bends only at the right elbow. She doesn't turn at the head or waist, or move her legs or feet or hands.
In addition to reducing the variety of fun poses, and making the figure less interesting, her limited posability
causes her to stand poorly. She actually cannot stand on her own and needs the stand that comes with her, which attaches to the bottom of her feet.
ACCESSORIES:
Miss Piggy comes with three accessories:
~ A pink vanity table/dresser with a tilting mirror
~ A small golden hand mirror with her monogramed initial 'P' on the back, which she can hold in her right hand
~ An oval black stand with a gold The Muppet Show logo on the top side
I think the props are appropriate, but find them a little boring. The vanity table that came with the figure I
purchased is poorly constructed and doesn't stand straight because one leg is a fair bit shorter and more crooked
than the others, making it stand lopsided.
FINAL JUDGMENT:
Well... as you can probably tell I'm pretty disappointed with this figure. Miss Piggy is such a main muppet character, yet is one of the most poorly made figures of the entire line. I think it would have been wise to make a Miss Piggy figure that is up to par with the other figures, as she was such a memorable character.
Maybe Palisades had not yet perfected the overall look and quality that they have now established with the majority
of figures in the line, as Piggy is one of the first figures made by the company. That is the only explanation that I can think of right now.
If you would prefer a different Piggy figure, there is a variant Glamour Piggy that was made early on in the
line, which has some differences in colour of clothing, hairstyle, and also has a purple feather boa that looks
pretty neat. There is also a First Mate Piggy that is coming out soon as part of Series 4, as a combined set
with the Swinetrek playset. Judging by the preliminary pictures I've seen, this figure looks to be much better.
