Okay, so I'm a little obsessive about my pens. As a journalist and compulsive writer, I spend more of my time writing than I do just about anything else... Except maybe changing diapers (but that's another story!)
Anyway, when I'm taking notes for a story, it is imperative that I have a pen I can count on. And Pilot is not just the best choice for me - it's the only choice!
The Specifics
This is an extra-fine tip ball-point ink pen that has an ink reservoir with a viewing window instead of the typical tube found in many other ball-points.
It has a pull-off cap with a metal clip on it to attach it to things, like your pocket if you're really dorky or your work bag if you're just semi-dorky (like me!).
The Performance
This pen truly writes like no other. Trust me, because I have tried them all. It writes with a smooth, steady flow of ink for an even line every time, no drips or blobs. There is never any scribbling to try to get the ink to come out. The ink reservoir allows you to easily see when the pen is running low.
The only caveat of this pen that I know of is that you MUST not lose the lid. Or, if you do lose the lid, you must never leave the pen laying in contact with fabric of any kind. The ink will bleed out all over absolutely everything!
Also, it does not write well on shiny surfaces (magazines, credit cards, pictures). The ink will smudge if you do not let it dry COMPLETELY on these surfaces.
The price is a little lofty compared to some others, but the performance and longevity of the pens make it worth the price.
The conclusion
If you are looking for a pen that will last a long time, work like a dream and make everyone else jealous (watch out for envious office thieves!), this should be a good one to go with. Just don't lose the lid!
