Palmer Double Crisp Hearts: Crispy. Crunchy. Chocolatey. Smooth.
Written: Mar 24 '13
Pros:Great taste, foil wrapped, inexpensive.
Cons:Seasonal item, not safety wrapped.
The Bottom Line: While the bags are small, the treats are tasty.
R.M. Palmer makes some amazing seasonal candies including the Double Crisp Hearts. They are individually foil wrapped pieces of chocolate and crisped rice that look great in a candy dish or on a cookie tray. The four ounce bags were selling for .99 cents at a local grocery store and that made them extremely hard to pass up. If you like Nestle Crunch bars or the combination of chocolate and crisped rice, you will love the taste of these because like all of the crisped rice Palmer candies, there's a perfect mix between both ingredients and they're proportionate to each other so the chocolate doesn't overpower the crunch of the crisped rice. The bags are small; they are only four ounces so if you need a ton of these chances are you are going to need multiple bags. They are a seasonal item so you are only going to catch these when Valentine's Day is near. There were only a couple of bags left over after the holiday so I wasn't the only person that fell in love with these. They are individually wrapped in beautiful foil done in red with little silver hearts on them. You can also remove the heart from the foil and press it in to a cookie when it comes out of the oven so that it melts into the cookie but it is going to retain its shape. For whatever reason the image attached to this is incorrect; when I filled out the SAP on February 19th I know I attached the correct photo URL. If you want to see what these look like, please visit this URL: http://royalcandy.net/shop/images/doublecrisphearts.jpg A serving is five pieces, that's a decent amount in exchange for the 200 calories, 11 grams of fat, 27 grams of carbohydrates and 1 gram of protein you are getting from it. There's a nice balance of chocolate and crisped rice to these so if you like to suck on them until all the chocolate melts then eat the rice you definitely can. I have used these on cookies, to add to ice cream and on treat trays because they add a nice chocolate kicker to other food items but even out of the bag on their own they have a great taste. One of the downsides to this is that people see the price and assume that they are generic. Palmer might not be as big as Hershey but they are extremely popular. Their products are made in the United States with ingredients made in the USA. They're a local company located in Reading PA so when I buy their products I know I'm supporting a local company. They offer a satisfaction guarantee for all their products so if there's something wrong they are going to replace them or refund your money. I've never had any problems with their products so I feel completely safe in recommending their products to others. ^V^ © Freak369 - 2013 ^V^ Other Palmer products: Creepy Peepers Chocolate Eyeballs Dr. Scab's Monster Lab Nurse Hatchet's Gummy Body Parts Halloween Peanut Butter Cups Trashy Tasty Treat Gummies Halloween Tricky Treats Chocolate Holly And Berries Palmer Double Crisp Coal NASCAR Semi Solid Collectible Car NASCAR Mini Foil Wrapped Cars
