| ltjfisher's Full Review: Outrigger Palms at Wailea |
We stayed at this 1 bed 2 bath condo from April 5th to 12th. It was great. We stayed in unit 308, 1050 sq feet with huge deck 6 appliances, 2 tvs, granite counters in kitchen, 2 spacious bathrooms and washer and dryer. It was in very good and clean condition and nicely furnished a view of the water. It is situated in the beautiful resort enclave of Wailea surrounded by beautiful top end condos and large million dollar homes.
Location is hard to beat at only about a block and a half from Keawakapu beach at 2 to 5 minute drive from all the numerous beaches in Wailea and Kihei. Gardens and landscaping were impeccable.
Staff was very friendly, helpful and accomodating and there was daily maid service too.Pool facilities were quite good, though no alcohol rule around the pool and deck was a little extreme and unacceptable given that most everyone there is on vacation and paying $200 plus a night to stay. Having to sneak beers and coolers in plastic cups felt a little odd--like going back to jr high school. The only other complaint is that only the master bedrooms have AC so the unit would get quite warm even with all the windows open. On site restaurant and lounge or bar would have been nice too. We felt very comfortable and relaxed in this beautiful complex. The spaciousness of the unit and complex was an improvement over a hotel room.
Happy we stayed at a condo and had use of the Outrigger Wailea facilities which was great -- it as it is spread out nicely and mixes in well with the geography and is the closest to the water of any of the Wailea hotels and had a great infinity pool. It seemed much less crowded than the other big hotels around there too which had people and chairs right on top of one another on the pool decks (i.e. 4 Season's and Grand Wailea).
The beaches were fantastic, not a speck of garbage and not too crowded and no vendors!. The Shops at Wailea was very nice. We were most impressed with the scenery, beaches and cleanliness of the island. Haleakala was worth the trip alone--definitely one of the most impressive sights we've seen in our many travels.
Next time we would book at least 10 days as one week is not enough! We would definitely go back to Maui and would recommend The Palms at Wailea.
