| nortos's Full Review: Pampered Chef Baking Basics: Flour/Sugar Shaker 16... |
For years, as I grew up in the 60's and 70's, I thought the only way to combine a cinnamon and sugar combination was using a plastic cup and cleaning up spills afterwards - this I blame on my father (sorry Dad). That's how I was brought up - he kept a plastic cup in the cabinet with "his cinnamon/sugar mixture" - no one was to touch it. Unfortunately, in my house now, the kids love "doing things for themselves, except cleaning up the mess!"
I was brought into this millenium when I hosted a Pampered Chef Party...
I have owned my Flour/Sugar Shaker for about 4 years now and use it almost every day. The kids find it easy to sprinkle powdered sugar on their french toast, pancakes or whatever else they want sweetened including their hands. I haven't used it for flour and if I were to I would buy another one just for flour so I wouldn't have to clean it as often in between uses.
The shaker is tan and has a mesh hood which is held in place by a plastic ring that screws onto the top of the shaker. It also comes with a convenient plastic clear domed top to prevent your sugar from becoming stale/tasteless. It stanks about 4 inches tall and is about 3 inches in diameter.
I keep it on my kitchen counter and it takes up no more space than a coffee mug with a handle. It is easy to clean by simply taking it apart (emptying the contents into the garbage can) and putting the pieces in the dishwasher. Or if you just need to clean the outside of it, a damp papertowel should do the trick.
I use my shaker when I sprinkle powdered sugar on zepoles, funnel cakes, devils food cakes, cupcakes, crepes. Anything that looks attractive with powdered sugar on it. It also comes in handy if you like mixing sugar and cinnamon and sprinkling that on foods.
The Shaker would make an excellent Bridal Shower Wishing Well gift or a gift for a new homeowner. I gave one to my Sister-in-law when the moved into their new home, along with a few other Pampered Chef Must haves. They love it and find it very useful.
I actually received my shaker for free from hosting a Pampered Chef party in my home but they run about $6.00. You can find a Pampered Chef consultant in your area by going to www.pamperedchef.com.
