| ariel10575's Full Review: Pampered Chef Corn Cob Nobs |
After the first Pampered Chef party that I attended, I decided to host one of my own with the Pampered Chef Consultant I met at that party. After my party, I was able to pick all sorts of various things with my leftover points (I spent most on the Ultimate Slice and Grate). One of the things I decided to try out were the Corn Cob Nobs.
I had not thought of buying these ever before this because I had no real need for them. I knew they were a useful product, but I had some of the yellow cheap ones with the two metal spikes on them, and had no need to replace them. Needless to say, I've changed my tune!
What makes these things different?
(The features list is information Pampered Chef from materials they provided to me in hard copy, not online. All commentary is my own.)
That is what I wanted to know! After learning about them, I submit these features as evidence to their usefulness:
100% Nylon: This means that they will not break and are cool to the touch in seconds. Why would they get hot? Because you can clean your ear of corn, stick them in, and *then* cook the corn! Boil them, microwave them, or grill with them - your holders will cool down WAY faster than your corn!
8 Green Nobs: I think that is a good deal to get 8 pieces for the price. Good for a family of 4, like mine!
Versatile: Well, if they can survive boiling, microwaving and grilling, then I'd say it is very versatile! But how about this - insert them into the ends of pieces of fruit for your kids, making it easier to handle for them!
(Believe it or not: I attended a playgroup about a month ago, and the hostess served us a bowl of cantaloupe and a bowl of watermelon. Ok, that is fine. But each bowl had about 8 little sharp metal forks in it so the children could serve themselves! That sure seemed dangerous to me!
Screw-In Design: Yep, no prongs here! Just push it a tiny bit and screw it on into the ear of corn. It will not fall out like pronged nobs do.
Dishwasher-Safe: Do you have a little closed basket in your dishwasher? Is your utensil holder covered? Then you can pop these babies into the dishwasher, and turn it on and forget it! Soon you will have clean Corn Cob Nobs!
Informative Packaging: Each pack of 8 Corn Cob Nobs comes with a use and care paper. The cool thing is that the flip side of it has a recipe on it for Tomato-Herb Spread! That is just a nice bonus.
Exclusive - Patented: Sure enough, this product was designed and produced just for Pampered Chef. It is also made in the USA!
Ok, I think I get it! Any other reasons that I purchase this?
Well, I do not know about you, but I'm not comfortable using my metal pronged corn holders anymore. After taking a good look at them, I realized they had some bad points against them.
1. Sharp Metal Prongs: These things can poke holes in things, even people if shoved hard enough!
2. Metal can Rust!: Yep, I found rust on my prongs. Sure, it is just going into the ear of the corn, not the actual corn I am eating, but still! Eeeewwww!! Furthermore, if these sharp things poke a person in say, the finger or hand, what will the rust do to you? I'll tell you it would not be pretty!
3. Fall Out: Because they are stuck straight in there, it does not always guarantee that they will stay in. These things are easy for my youngsters to pull out, and that brings the all too real fears of point 1 and 2 alive.
Thank you for your years of fine service, my dear Pronged Nobs. It is time for your retirement, and my corn to move to 'greener' pastures!!
So next time you go to a Pampered Chef party, or host a party and have a few points to share - consider picking up these handy dandy Corn Cob Nobs, and give them a whirl! Oh, and get a Corn Butterer for the perfect pair of cheap, useful products!!
