Such is true for so many children
. They dont care for the crust of the bread. My oldest daughter is probably one of the rare children that actually do eat the crust without any complaint. However my baby er, um
my 7-year-old she isnt fond of crust. She will eat it, but delights in the occasions that I happen to remove it for her. Well I like to take this a step farther and get fancy via the Pampered Chef Cut-N-Seal.
The Pampered Chef Cut-N-Seal is available via purchase from Pampered Chef consultants and you will find access to one by visiting the link via the product information page on this item. We paid $8.75 for this item (plus shipping and tax). I am pleased with it, as are the children. In fact they often call the sandwich a lunchtime pie.
This 3 ½ kitchen helper is easy to use. The Pampered Chef Cut-N-Seal cuts, seals, and crimps two layers of bread or dough together, thus holding the filling of your choice within a fancy appearing circle or crescent shape. This can be used for cold sandwiches or for items you intend to cook. The suggested filling amount is 1 Tablespoon.
For sandwich purpose you will first decide if you prefer a circle or crescent shaped delight. If you desire a circle-sized sandwich you will need two slices of bread. Place 1 T. of desired filling onto the middle of one piece and place the other slice of bread on top. Next you will position the Pampered Chef Cut-N-Seal onto the center of the bread and push the base portion of the unit down while twisting slightly. This creates the initial circular cut. Dont remove the cut-n-seal. You will now push the plunger down, allowing the bread to be crimped and sealed.
Using one slice of bread makes a crescent shaped sandwich. Place 2 teaspoons of filling on the center, fold the bread corner to corner, cut and crimp. This allows for a nice variation.
Although we use the Pampered Chef Cut-N-Seal primarily for sandwiches there are many other uses. With the initial purchase you receive an instruction manual that contains recipe suggestions and most Pampered Chef Consultants are ready to provide more.
Example:
Mini Ham & Swiss Club-wiches
12 slices fresh, soft rye bread
1/4 cup Dijon mustard
6 ounces thinly sliced honey baked ham
4 ounces thinly sliced Swiss cheese
1. Cut 12 slices bread into rounds using Cut-N-Seal. Crimp edges by pressing handle; do not twist. Cut ham and cheese into rounds using Cut-N-Seal.
2. Spread 1 teaspoon mustard on each bread round.
3. To assemble four triple decker club-wiches, layer one cheese round and ham round on top of four bread rounds. Then top each with a second bread round, cheese round and ham round. Invert remaining bread rounds, mustard side down for top. Cut in half or quarters.
Yield: 4 club-wiches
We enjoy making miniature pies with a variety of fillings, just remember to use 1 tablespoon for circle shaped and 2 teaspoons for crescent shaped. Another fun thing we do with our Pampered Chef Cut-N-Seal is make french toast pockets. For these we place shredded cheddar cheese and bacon bits in the middle, dip the crimped sandwich in egg and fry to desired doneness. The possibilities are endless.
Cleaning
The Pampered Chef Cut-N-Seal isnt dishwasher safe. You will need to hand wash this gadget in warm sudsy water, rinse, and dry. The hasnt been a challenge for us because it cleans with ease. I suppose this might be a hassle if you were using certain ingredients and didnt cleanse the cut-n-seal immediately. Most of the time this item is used for butter sandwiches so there are times that we dont clean ours in between uses.
Closing Sentiment
I recommend purchasing a Pampered Chef Cut-N-Seal. This kitchen tool is especially nice if you have children or entertain. There are numerous quick and easy appetizers you can prepare via the cut-n-seal. Your guests will think you went to way more work than what was actually required.
Happy Cooking!
