| bmcnichol's Full Review: Pampered Chef Cutting Edge Food Chopper 2585 |
I am a kitchen gadget person. I love all sorts of gadgets that make my life easier in the kitchen {cough, cough}. Of course, most of those gadgets end up in a cupboard somewhere never to see daylight again.
When I first purchased my Pampered Chef Food Chopper, my husband asked me if I really needed it. What a silly question. Of course I did. Everyone else I knew had one and I wanted one too. Yes I had a full size food processor that sits in the cupboard, a mini food processor that I used for a year when my son was younger to make baby food but hasn’t seen daylight in about two years, a coffee grinder that hasn’t been used for ages but I needed THIS Food Chopper.
Well the Pampered Chef Food Chopper is NOT like my other gadgets in that I use it almost daily. I love it and wish I would have purchased it years ago.
Out of the box the Chopper is fully assembled and stands about nine inches high. The unit can be taken apart into four pieces. The one piece consists of the push handle plunger with the blades. This is one unit. There is a hard plastic protector that goes around the blades, which is another unit. Then there is the clear plastic piece that keeps your food in one place when chopping. And lastly is the plastic bottom that can be used to chop food in or just to keep the dust off when it sits in your cupboard.
The Food Chopper is easy to use. Place your food item to be chopped in the plastic bottom or on a chopping board. With the Food Chopper it is better and easier to chop small amounts. Place your Food Chopper over the item and push the plunger handle. The plunger handle has a soft top so that your hand will not get sore chopping.
With a push of the handle, the blades chop through your food. Most items will need to be chopped a few times to get to the desired consistency.
The blades are made of stainless steel and are very sharp. The blades are self-rotating, seven angle cutting blades which means you can cut your food up faster.
You can use your Chopper to chop many different items. One of the items I find it very useful for is spaghetti. OK stop laughing, yes you read that right. My three year old loves spaghetti but has trouble with the long pieces. I get my handy dandy chopper out, chop, chop, chop and we have the perfect size spaghetti’s for my three year old. You can also use your chopper for meats, nuts, herbs, veggies, fruits, ice, beans and the list goes on and on.
So the Pampered Chef Food Chopper is easy to use. OK but is it easy to clean? You bet it is. The clear unit twists off and the plastic around the blades slides right off. Place all pieces on the top shelf of your dishwasher and you have a clean Food Chopper to use again tomorrow. Can’t get much easier then that now can it?
The Food Chopper does come with a 5 year guarantee. I have had my chopper for about three years and haven’t had any problems.
So you are thinking isn’t there anything bad about this product. Well if you ask my husband, that would have been the price. Yes the Food Chopper costs $28.50 but it is well worth every penny. I think now that I have had my chopper for a few years, he would agree but looking at that price tag can make some people wonder if it really is worth it.
Another downfall for some may be that it is only sold by Pampered Chef. If you don’t know a consultant, you can get a Food Chopper online at www.pamperchef.com. Don’t be fooled by imposters.
One thing that comes with owning this product is knowing when to stop chopping. It is so easy to use, you can find yourself over chopping and ending up with mush. I did this once with chicken I was chopping for a soup. It was too mushy I used it for a spread instead.
I have also found with using mine daily that some foods will stick to the inside of the chopper. I have the small scrapper from Pampered Chef that I use to scrape out those stubborn spaghetti’s that don’t want to come out and be eaten. You will also went to make sure you rinse the blades and unit before placing in the dishwasher so remove those leftover pieces.
No I am not a Pampered Chef consultant but I do have many Pampered Chef products (look for more reviews coming). I love the quality of the items they offer.
I’m sure you have figured out by now that I love my Pampered Chef Food Chopper and would not want to be without it. If you are in the market for a Food Chopper, you will not be disappointed with the Pampered Chef Food Chopper. Chop Away!
