Please Pamper Me with the Perfect Pizza Stone!

Pros:cooks evenly, naturally non-stick, doesn't over-cook
Cons:Sigh....it breaks. It isn't unusually fragile, but don't drop it.
The Bottom Line: It's a must have - the quality of cooking that is produced for a product that will last a lifetime (don't drop it!) is worth the cost.
I loved my Pampered Chef Family Heritage Stoneware Large Round Stone. Loved it! Why am I writing in the past tense, you ask? Well, I just broke it (along with my 8" stone square pan) and I am still in mourning.
The large round stone cooks actually improved my cooking. It cooks incredibly evenly, and for some reason it is almost impossible to burn something on the stone?! It's not for me to question the science. After the stone is seasoned, the non-stick qualities are second to none. I have never had anything burn or stick to my Pampered Chef stone products.
Cleaning is a bit of a different story. To start, you must get used to the fact that it will never return to the light, even tone that you received it in - the silky, mottled darkness is the nature of the seasoning, and therefore desireable. You can't use soap on the stone as it can absorb the flavour, so abundant elbow grease and a tolerance for extremely hot water are excellent qualities in the owner! I found that the little scraper was useful, but not the perfect tool to get the stone conpletely clean. After a few years, I discovered that the best way to clean the stone was with a combination of extremely hot water, the scraper and a plastic scrubbie. Every now and then I give it a "facial" with a baking soda paste - let it sit for half an hour and then clean it off with the scrubbie. It's wonderful for exfoliating any grease or bits that hang on after time.
The large round stone makes a great pizza, and there's nothing better than Pampered Chef stoneware for cookies! Pizza is always evenly cooked, top and bottom, with a lovely crispy crust. When initially purchased, it came with a little recipe booklet with some great pizza ideas. They are quick and easy, and much cheaper than take out. Actually, making your own isn't that much slower than waiting an hour for a lukewarm, mushy pizza is it?
So, call up your local Pampered Chef consultant today, and get that party booked! They have a lot of great products, but the stoneware collection is where you must start. Get rid of that metal crap, and replace it with the stone! And the large round stone is definitely one of my favourites - multi-purpose, easy to clean and better results every time. I am already planning my party to replace mine.....and looking forward to another ten years to perfectly season it.
