I LOVE this measuring cup. When using "traditional" measuring cups and trying to measure sticky items, such as mayo, peanut butter, butter, etc., there was always a chance of air pockets, and not getting the full measurement. You can see into the cup in the measuring cup and know if there are any air pockets.
Once you have your measurement, you just push the bottom of the plastic and all of the item (except a little on the bottom) goes right into the bowl. Then take a scraper (PC's are the best!), or a spoon and scrape off the little that was left on the plastic. No more having to scrape the inside of a cup and deal with what gets left in the measuring cup.
Then, of course, if you flip the cup over, you can measure liquids. It also has different measurements from teaspoons to cups. So, if you are tripling a recipe that normally calls for 6 tsp of something, you can use the measurements on the cup to do 18 tsp, which 6 tbsp, a little over 1/3 cup, or 90 mL.
I always wash in the dishwasher and have never had a problem! However, my dishwasher does not get very hot, so maybe that is why others have had problems and I haven't.
