When my husband and I first got married I liked to make home-made pizza for us. But after the kids came along, I found I didn't have the time or energy to do it so I reverted back to ordering delivery pizza. However, as the kids grew older and I had just a bit more time, I returned to making home-made pizza. Not only could I put healthier toppings on it, but it's a great way to get the kids involved in food preparation.
Unfortunately, my original pizza cutter had long since disappeared so I turned to Pampered Chef for one. I had seen my consultant use one at several shows and was impressed by its looks, quality, and easy of use.
~About the Pizza Cutter~
The Pampered Chef Pizza Cutter measures just under 10 inches long. The stainless steel blade itself is 4 inches (10 cm) in diameter and is rust resistance. The black handle grip is just a little over 4 inches long and the 3.5 inch long finger guard between it and the blade protects your fingers while cutting.
The blade itself has a slightly beveled edge to ensure a nice clean cut.
As this tool is extremely sharp, it comes with a protective plastic sleeve so that you may safely store it without fear of little fingers reaching in and accidentally touching it.
The Pizza Cutter is machine washable and comes with a 3-year guarantee from Pampered Chef.
~Usage and Experiences~
This Pizza Cutter looks sturdy and reliable and it is! It is designed to allow you to cut pizza in one continuous motion without a lot of muscle. This is especially nice for our family as we prefer our pizza crust on the crispier side and lesser pizza cutters require more muscle and often several attempts to cut the crust.
The finger guard is a nice and important feature, too. I always to manage to nick or cut my fingers with a lot of my kitchen cutting tools and having this protection is necessary for people like me.
I have also discovered that the Pizza Cutter is not just for cutting pizza. Once when I was in a hurry in the morning I grabbed it out of the dish rack to cut my kids' PB&J sandwiches for school and was surprised how nicely and easily it cut them. Much better than a standard knife.
Since then I have used to cut dishes such as Lasagna or Enchilada casserole that I bake in my Pampered Chef stoneware. So easy and so convenient. Makes me wonder why I used a knife for so many years.
Cleanup is a breeze as it dishwasher safe. If it does get some sticky cheese on it, I may soak it first and then it wipes right off.
For $8.50 I think the Pizza Cutter is a fantastic deal and one that no household should be without. It is multi-functional and retains its sharpness. I have been using the Pampered Chef Pizza Cutter for nearly 3 years and it performs as well as the day I got it.
