Pros: Very good fit, lightweight, sufficient absorbency.
Cons: Perfumed.
The Bottom Line: The best fitting diaper for my son's narrow hips. No more night time leaking. Would be perfect if it were chlorine free and unscented.

| zzJulia's Full Review: Pampers Custom Fit Cruisers 16-28 Pound, 38 Diaper... |
The most consistent parenting advice that I have received is, as soon as a parent thinks they have a routine down with their new baby, the baby will change the routine.
This has turned out to be exactly the case with my son's diapers. The hospital sent us home with Pampers Swaddlers Newborn size. Those worked well until he hit 10 lbs (which was pretty quickly!) and then he started to have blowouts with the low-rise Swaddlers.
So after 10 lbs, we switched to Huggies Baby Shaped with Gigglastic waistband. These worked well in size 1 and 2. They were higher waisted, and fit nicely. They weren't as absorbent as we liked, but we used the Seventh Generation too, which were far more absorbent but very wide. The nice thing about Huggies and Seventh Generation is that there was no scent to the diapers.
Suddenly, my son topped 16 lbs and he was starting to leak at night time. He also leaked on us every time we held him to give him a bottle at night.
The leaks were not caused by a heavy or full diaper. Instead, the Huggies size 3 didn't seem to fit him and the elastic around the legs had started to gape when we held him or when he lay down.
Of course, before we figured it out, we blamed ourselves for somehow not securing his diaper enough. Also, there seemed to be less leaking during the day so somehow the diapers were doing their job during the day time.
Pampers Cruisers
After three days of trying to figure out why we suddenly had to change his wet clothes at night, I ran to Target and scanned the shelves. The name "cruisers" seemed to suggest something for the active baby, with a picture of a crawling baby on the cover. My son wasn't particularly active as he was only 4 months old, but he had outgrown size 2's but somehow size 3's didn't fit him well. The Cruisers looked to have more elastic. I purchased the Pampers Cruisers and Huggies Supremes in size 3 and hoped one of them would work.
Appearance
The first thing I noticed when I tore open the package of Cruisers was the incredibly perfumey scent. Ughh. I had forgotten about that, but that was something I didn't like about the Swaddlers!
The second thing I noticed was the far narrower crotch width of the Cruisers when folded. Once you unfold the diaper, the crotch area actually extends vertically, providing a deep selvedge before the elastic.
That deeper rise for the diaper between the crotch and leg is colored purple for some reason. The waistband front and back have cute Sesame Street prints. I wave them in front of my son before a change so he can see the pictures. Otherwise, it's pretty much wasted on me as I don't really care about the pictures.
The diaper is very light weight, not as thick as Huggies Supremes.
Fit
They fit like a charm. We'd had trouble with many diapers being too wide for his narrow hips, but not wide enough for his tummy. The Pampers Cruisers were so elastic, yet snug enough that there were no more gaps caused by us holding him.
Absorbency
The Cruisers are thin, and we worried that they wouldn't hold enough. However, we needn't have worried. We've started putting the Cruisers on him at 8pm, and we change him again around 5am.
No blowouts. It's been nearly a month, he's now on solids, and even when exclusively breastfed, he did not have blowouts with the Cruisers.
Conclusion
These fit extremely well and for that, they are worth every penny. They do a good job in the absorbency department too. I only wish they did not scent these. It's ridiculous. Nothing smells like "powder-fresh" diaper, other than powder fresh diapers. Who do they think they are fooling?
It remains to be seen whether the Cruisers will stand up to the activity level once he starts crawling, but for now, all I care about is that he doesn't leak and I don't have to change his clothing all the time now.
I paid $9.99 at target for a package of 36 Cruisers. I found the same package on sale at Rite Aid for $8.99. Amazon has them for about $33 for 148, but best prices are still at 1800diapers.com.
