| xyzwyatt's Full Review: Pampers Kandoo Foaming Handsoap |
We have three kids who share one dirty bathroom and they do use a lot of hand soap. I noticed the bottle of Kandoo hand soap at the checkout stand a couple weeks prior and had it in my hand but then thought no, its just marketing. A couple days later I received a coupon for a *free* sample of Kandoo hand soap.
My 5-year-old saw the coupon when it came in the mail and got all excited about it as if her life revolves around hand soap. She even reminded me to take the coupon with me to the store several days later. There were 2 scents to choose from, Fresh Scent and Jungle Fruits. We chose the fresh sent.
The scent of the soap is extremely strong and is a cross between apple and watermelon. The soap comes out as foam and one squirt or two is plenty depending on how big the childs hands are.
Since the soap is a foam it is makes it very easy for the kids to wash their hands. Sometimes when they used traditional hand soap chunks of soap slid of their hand before they had a chance to rub it in. I also dont notice as many misfires on the counter like I found from traditional hand soap.
My 5-year-old likes the soap but she does not really care any more about it than she did regular hand soap. Im actually surprised that she uses it at all since its not pink. I think the smell of the hand soap is gender neutral so should be suitable for a boy or a girl.
The container that the soap comes in is very attractive. The base is green and wide for stability and the pump is dark purple. The pump is very wide to make it easier for little hands. There is a picture of a frog on the front.
My 2-year-old loved the soap dispenser. She calls it bubbles and spends a lot more time rubbing it in her hands than she does with liquid soap.
I was not sure what my son would think of the bottle. I didn't know if my "pre-teen" would consider using something that was marketed for kids ages 2-7 years old. When he got home from school I asked him to try the new hand soap. He didnt comment on the bottle and said ooh, nice when the foam came out. Once he finished washing his hands he was happy with the results and wanted me to smell his hands. He said that he liked the soap and the smell. I asked him if it looked like a kids or a babies and he said somewhere around kindergarten age but he would still use it.
What I like is that smell is so strong that I know if they washed their hands without asking. I really like this container, I think it looks cute. The nozzle is easier to clean than traditional soft soap pumps.
What I didnt like initially is that its not see-through so its difficult to know when more is needed but then I noticed on one side there is a clear strip which reveals how much liquid is left. I guess they thought of everything.
My kids wash their hands a lot because after all they use the restroom every 5 minutes. They also wash their hands before they eat, and after they eat so even if theyre not wasting it they do use a lot. Hand washing is not a challenge for us so I dont know how this will be with motivating kids to wash their hands. The fun of pumping wears off after a couple days. I think most kids will prefer the smell and texture of this more than traditional hand soap.
The price is pretty high, $2.99 for a bottle of hand soap and so far there isnt a refill option. Hopefully they will come out with a refill because this is too nice of a container to throw away. My kids usually break the pump on cheap dispensers but this one is pretty solid.
This is a Proctor and Gamble / Pampers product so I would imagine that it will be sold in most places. We got ours at Target in the childrens bath aisle.
