Tidy Booty (Lean and Mean III Write off)
Written: Dec 10 '04
Pros:Gets the back area clean.
Cons:Oder is slightly strong
The Bottom Line: They are comparable to other brands, no better or worse.
Manufactures now make flushable wipes for adults as well children. And I have to say that it was actually a pretty good idea, taking baby wipes to the next level.
I remember when my kids first became toilet trained at first I still had to wipe their little bottoms. Then the day came when I had to stop babying them and make them do it their selves, a good step towards moving my children towards self reliance, but it was not so great in the laundry department. Though kids try they donât always get it as clean as they can back there, especially with toilet paper tearing and crumbling on them. I decided to try flushable wipes and bought a box to see if it would benefit us. My older children are now 7 & 8, and they still prefer to use the wipes. Personally I donât blame them, it just seems more sanitary and mom and dad can use them too.
Pampers Little Tykes Wipes
There are a few different brands on the market these days of flushable wipes, and in my opinion they are all quite similar. They are like baby wipes in the fact that they come in plastic containers, and that they are pre-moistened towlettes. However, flushable wipes are smaller than baby wipes, and come in a smaller plastic container; also unlike regular baby wipes you can flush them down the toilet.
My recent purchase of Pampers Little Tykes Wipes came in pretty blue plastic box. The box itself is just plain blue but it came with some Sesame Street Stickers that you can use to decorate the box with, there is Bert and Ernie, Elmo, Cookie Monster, Grover, Big Bird, Oscar, Zowie, and a new little monster whose name escapes me.
In the box you will find 48 little they are roughly 5 inches by 6 inches. When you open the box you immediately smell the wipes. The scent I would say is kind of like the scent of a mildly scented average bar of soap. The wipes are all piled very tightly one on top of the other, once you remove a wipe you will see that it is folded on each side so when you pull it opened the wipe is a bit bigger than it looks at first site. The wipes have a little plus sign design all over them, and they have little tiny holes all over them that do not quite go all the way through.
These wipes are comparably price with other brands. Average price is around $1.99 for the container full of wipes, slightly less for the refill package.
Use
I am not going to get to specific here. Open the container, pull out a wipe, pull the wipe all the way to the opened position, and clean you fanny area. Replace and repeat if necessary. One usually is enough though. Make sure you close the container because if you do not the wipes will dry out. Then throw away or flush which ever you prefer. Some toilets particularly older ones may not tolerate these wipes very well. Also I would not flush more than one at a time just to be safe. We have stuffed up the toilet a couple of times.
Ingredients (from package)
Water, Propylene Glycol, PEG-75 Lanolin, Cocoamphodiacetate, Polysorbate 20, Methylparaben, Propylparaben, 2-Bromo-2-Nitropropane-1,3-Diol, Fragrance
My Thoughts
These flushable wipes are no better and no worse than any other childrenâs flushable wipes we have tried. They work just fine and do what they are intended to do. They hold up well, and do not fall apart. The smell is a little bold, but it is tolerable. I would buy these again but against the other couple of brands I have tried I would say I would get these if they were the cheapest or if the price was comparable. The kids like decorating the box, so for the same price I will take the one with the stickers, and the pretty colored box.
