singleguy1974's Full Review: Panasonic (KX-TG2620W) 2.4 GHz 1-Line Cordless Pho...
I recently needed to upgrade my cordless phone after my battery in my old analog cordless phone started to go. I did some online research about cordless phones as well as read up on them through Consumer Reports before purchasing a new cordless phone. According to Consumer Reports both Uniden & Panasonic cordless phones had excellent reliability & ease of use. After reading up for a week on cordless phone models & the different frequency's models I came across this Panasonic cordless phone which I purchased.
I purchased this phone online from Amazon.com for $27.50 with free basic shipping which was an excellent deal compared to stores in my area which charged more plus having to pay sale tax also. This phone provides crystal clear digital transmission in the 2.4 GHZ frequency range. It also has a nice feature of FHSS which means Frequency Hopping Spread Spectrum Technology which gives you constant security by constantly hopping through a range of available channels to reduce interference & to provide improved security against eavesdropping. And because it's a digital signal you get long range & clarity. It has 90 channels that is constantly scans through to keep your conversations secure. I also like the small handset design as well as the small antenna which lights up when the phone rings. The phone also gives you a wide variety of choices for preferred ring tones. The built in speakerphone is one of the best features! You can use it like a walkie talkie since it picks up your voice good from a distance, so you do not have to have it close to your mouth to talk. The display on the phone is easy to read & bright when on the highest level. I also find the voice enhancer feature which makes a voice sound more clear & natural sounding a useful feature. Only downside to using this feature is it shortens the battery life to 3 hours talk time instead of the 5 hours talk time according to the instruction manual. You can store up to 50 numbers into memory on the phone & it is both desk & wall mountable.
After owning this phone for a month I am happy with how clear the calls are even without having to use the voice enhancer technology. I also have checked this phone with D-Link, Belkin, & Linksys routers since I work with repairing & building computers & found that it has had no interference with any of these routers what so ever! As for the difference between 2.4 & 5.8 GHZ frequency according to Consumer Reports the difference is very subtle.
So, if your looking for a basic cordless phone without all the bells & whistles or just a 2nd cordless phone I highly recommend this Panasonic cordless phone to anyone.
